The Engineering Manager for the Production Process and Analytics Adelaide operation is responsible for ensuring the targets for engineering requirements are met within agreed timeframes and driving the safety, quality, and performance mindset of the team. Timely execution of new products, sustaining engineering, pre-sales and project designs, including manufacturing drawings and specifications as per project schedule and customer requirements. The engineering team is a key function involved in PPI development and implementation of lean processes through owned processes, but also for the wider business as a key partner.

Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Own and drive a culture of "Safety First" and "Right First Time, On Time" and maintain a high level of safety awareness among associates, and implement 5S principles.
  • Drive a "customer awareness and satisfaction" culture by improving the on-time delivery of engineering.
  • Provide engineering support to the global minerals and PGNAA sales teams and provide product documentation and drawings in a timely manner to meet customer project documentation VDDR and MDR requirements.
  • Ensure Standard Work is developed and maintained for all engineering work cells. And ensure you embrace and use Leader Standard Work (LSW) as a tool for your own daily management.
  • Ensure all engineering processes and procedures are documented, audited, and followed and be able to demonstrate continuous improvement and corrective action processes are used, to meet the requirements for maintaining certification of the company's ISO 9001 "Management System".
  • Live our core values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, Involvement.
  • Ensure engineering staff follow required or statutory certification or licensing requirements for the work they carry out and all designs align with relevant safety, environmental, and design standards or regulations.
  • As part of the business PPI-Lean Enterprise (PPI-LE) program, certified to ISO 9001- Quality Management System (QMS), actively use practical process improvement (PPI) tools and 8-step methodology to evaluate (audit), identify, develop and implement improvements as the process champion for the A-M value stream business.
  • Actively use the Root-Cause Counter-Measure (RCCM) 5-whys tool to evaluate gaps or misses in performance and establish sustainable corrective and preventative actions, including for the customer satisfaction scores.
  • Be a key member of the CARES/CAS program and with your engineering team identify improvement programs to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Through being a Role Model Leader (RML), focus on our values, communication, customers and employees, thereby ensuring growth, total customer satisfaction (high CAS) and employee satisfaction (high EOC score).
  • Contribute to a work environment where staff are challenged to develop their competence, and encouraged and provided with opportunities for professional development.
  • Empower staff to be innovative and involved, eliminate waste and solve problems quickly and effectively; always with a view toward meeting or exceeding customers' expectations.
  • Meet customer satisfaction goals for on-time delivery as well as ongoing quality and reliability standards, working closely with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality and Project Management functions.
  • Develop a successful team by motivating, challenging, and coaching direct reports, ensuring they take accountability and facilitate ongoing personal development for themselves and their teams.
  • Support the manufacturing facility as acting Site Leader when required.

What will you bring to our team?

  • Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering with a minimum of 5 years leadership experience or equivalent and professional membership of an engineering association would be beneficial.
  • Sound knowledge of the mining industry and the need for specialised high-value capital equipment and associated documentation requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of electromechanical assemblies, instruments, or devices.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a diverse team of engineers and drafters for highly engineered capital equipment or industrial product.
  • Sound experience in industrial design engineering and understanding of flow and sample handling systems.
  • Capability to ensure compliance to engineering standards of design and safety.
  • Experience in "New Product Introduction Staged Gate Process" practices.
  • Excellent PC skills and experience with the latest technology and software for design drafting. Experience with 3D CAD and SolidWorks drafting software.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 Quality Management System principles and application to engineering design.
  • High level verbal and written communications skills and astute problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills.
  • High level PC and software skills including use of ERP systems
