About the Role
The Security Administrator (SA), reporting to the Security Manager, provides support to all departmental efforts in the planning and execution of strategic security related initiatives. The SA will work on compliance with federal and state requirements, monitor security performance, create and update security guard force policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
The SA is responsible for the supervision of all operational and administrative functions related to contract security and/or agency represented security staff. The SA will be responsible for maintaining labor harmony and working within the scope of collectively bargained contracts for security personnel.
The SA is responsible for administering maintenance contracts for security technology such as CCTV, access control systems, alarms and other intrusion detection systems used at agency facilities. This includes assisting in the selection and deployment of physical and operational security solutions and evaluating performance metrics and performing these duties within the allocated budget.
The selected candidate will be required to undergo a background investigation conducted by the Port Authority Police Department (PAPD)
Responsibilities
- Assist with supervising the Security Operations Center (SOC) and all associated security technology use and deployment.
- Create and update security guard force policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Identify and evaluate performance metrics related to access control and CCTV, as well as security guard and SOC operations performance.
- Assist the Security Manager with resolving security project related issues and security assessments and studies.
- Assist in the administration of the access control and ID card issuance programs.
- Coordinate with facilities and operation staff to resolve routine and evolving security and safety issues at facilities.
- Communicate and coordinate with operations staff, PAPD, and external stakeholders to advise them of any known security issues or risks.
- Examine, study, and follow security industry standards and best practices for security considerations and guidance to provide to the Security Manager.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory activity that may have an impact on facility security.
- Conduct Security Site Surveys of facilities and make recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with conducting Risk Assessments for facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least Five (5) years of documented progressively responsible experience in security operations, physical security, guard force management, CCTV and access control system administration.
- Demonstrated experience performing analysis, producing reports, and managing contracts.
- Knowledge of physical security countermeasures and security technology systems.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and manage access control, alarm, intrusion and CCTV systems.
- Must be willing and able to respond to facilities and/or the agency's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during non-business hours, as required
- Must be able to attend meetings and work at TB&T/PATH facilities, World Trade Center, and the Port Authority Technical Center as needed.

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security, Technology or related field from an accredited college or university, or comparable work experience in the security field with an exceptional record of performance.
- In-depth understanding of security industry best practices in a transportation environment.
- Solid interpersonal skills to interact with staff at all levels, supporting departments, consultants and outside agencies.
- Proven ability to identify problems, assess the accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, develop consensus, and make recommendations.
