About the Role
Under the supervision of the Chief Maintenance Supervisor and the Maintenance Unit
Supervisor, the successful candidate's day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not
limited to supervising the activities of various service contracts, such as cleaning, elevator
and escalator maintenance, trash removal, and extermination. Other duties may include
supervising skilled and semi-skilled staff, and involvement in the Airport Snow Removal
Plan.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Maintain accurate and precise recordkeeping, logs, and documentation pertaining to
their unit's work. - Supervise the work of subordinates and train new employees.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish the
needs of the maintenance unit. - Respond to emergencies and assess response requirements as it
pertains to any incident. - Communicate information to key airport stakeholders responsible for decision
making during any incident or emergency.
Additional Information
- Further details will be provided by Human Resources Department at the time of the offer.
- The successful candidate must be able to pass a fingerprint-based Criminal History Check as mandated by 49CFR 1542 and will be required to obtain and maintain an Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) ID card with DR-2 Airfield Driving and escort privileges.
- The selected candidate is required to participate in the Airport Snow Removal Program and must be able to respond to other emergency activities on a 24 hour/7 day a week basis, and must be available to work any shift necessary, including weekends and holidays and work overtime as a regular function of the job.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
- Must have three (3) years of full-time, paid maintenance work experience, with 1 year of paid full-time supervisory experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.
- All applicants that meet the above qualifications and have been selected for an interview, must also be qualified on a Port Authority Entry-Level Assessment (ESA) test prior. This test assesses supervisory skills and will be administered virtually.

Desired Qualifications
Ideal candidates will present the following profile:
- Ability to coordinate work with other craft groups and to organize several jobs simultaneously.
- Ability to supervise work of subordinates and train new employees.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational, managerial and leadership skills.
- Knowledge or ability to learn the FAR 139 Regulations regarding the maintenance airfield operations.
- Maintain a positive attitude and meet the priorities and standards of the agency
- Acquire and maintain a pesticide license.
- Demonstrated knowledge or ability to learn, the Maximo Maintenance scheduling system and its use to accomplish Preventative, Corrective, and Emergency work, including scheduling, work order updating, and labor management.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external staff.
- Demonstrated experience with the use of personal computers, including the Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, MS Teams etc
