The Sr. Director of Program Management is responsible for leading the implementation of strategic initiatives for the Middle & Large Business Transformation Office, including interface w/ enterprise teams (Data, Innovation, Digital, etc.) This role will enable the execution and delivery of ambitious strategies that advance complex solutions and deliver financial impact and improved customer centricity for our customers, brokers and underwriters. The incumbent will be responsible for building relationships with senior business leaders and stakeholders and ensuring alignment of key resources. The ideal candidate is a business professional with a proven record of managing programs of varying levels of complexity to successful outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with senior executives across the organization to solve challenging business problems and deliver on critical initiatives that advance Middle & Large Business Insurance strategic vision and contribute to the overall Business Insurance strategy. The Sr. Director of Program Management will be accountable for managing our strategic initiatives, including prioritization, resources, business cases, status reporting, issue resolution, communication planning and support with change management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the portfolio of transformation initiatives including sequencing, funding, resourcing, communications, change management, and decision-making
  • Provide thought leadership and critical thinking to drive execution and business decision making
  • Manage the competing needs and priorities of multiple initiatives and stakeholder groups (e.g., Field, Product, Technical, Operational)
  • Own communication with stakeholders regarding expectations, resources, deliverables, and priorities with appropriate level of detail and timeliness
  • Manage the progress of deliverables according to overall timetable and short and long-term objectives
  • Produce, administer, and maintain communication vehicles (e.g., reports, presentation decks, etc.)
  • Manage program outcomes to ensure expectations are achieved
  • Build and maintain partnerships/relationships needed to ensure that priorities align with the business strategy and that the initiatives will deliver the expected value
  • Ensure program deliverables align to strategy and engage stakeholders accordingly
  • Make recommendations regarding priorities and activities based on the specific business strategy, aligning all supporting data and prerequisites
  • Assemble and lead meetings as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years strategy, strategic planning, project management or program management experience or equivalent transformational leadership experience
  • P&C insurance, underwriting, product development and/or consulting experience helpful
  • Ability to influence diverse teams and across organizational layers, build strong business relationships, and earn credibility among teammates and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross functional invest projects with a strong record of collaborating with and understanding the needs of stakeholders, and translating those needs into actions
  • Experience developing Cost/Benefit Analysis and managing complex invest projects.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to adjust to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Intellectually curious and solution-oriented, with the ability to challenge the status quo
  • Operates with a high level of accountability and ownership
  • Confident and effective with C-suite-level communications to articulate concepts and objectives, exchange ideas and provide progress updates
  • Strong ability to manage conflict and resolve ambiguities, driving appropriate clarity and engaging key decisionmakers as appropriate
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experience

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$134,800 - $202,200
