T08 - SIU Desk Investigator

This position is responsible for the investigation of fraudulent and suspected fraudulent claim activity on the part of insureds, claimants and industry related providers.

Responsibilities:
• Review claim referrals to determine whether they are appropriate for additional
investigation. This includes a detailed claim review and various background searches.
• Investigate suspected fraudulent claim activity on the part of insureds,
claimants and industry related providers.
• Proactively review claims to identify red flags through database research and background
information analysis to determine if further investigation is needed.
• Establish and liaison within the investigative community, including fraud
bureaus, state prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, Workers Compensation
commissions, National Insurance Crime Bureau. Cooperate closely with
Internal Audit Department investigations when requested.
• Prepare and submit investigative summaries documenting all
phases of the investigation to assist with the claim resolution.
• Mentoring new and current SIU Desk Investigators when needed.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years claim handling experience required.
• Workers' Compensation claim experience preferred.
• SIU and/or law enforcement experience preferred.
• College degree with criminal justice emphasis preferred.
• Solid understanding of SIU or relevant claim processes, practices and
applicable laws and regulations.
• Consistent high level of performance and achievement over career span.
• Ability to lead without having formal authority and to work both independently
and in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a challenging and fast-paced
environment.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Demonstrated fraud awareness and aptitude.
• Effective interviewing and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Proven ability to build strong partnerships across segments and function.
Additional Information:
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT; San Antonio, TX; Lake Mary, FL; Scottsdale, AZ and Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $69,600 - $104,400. In addition to base pay, employees may receive short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition as part of The Hartford's total compensation package.

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
