The Hartford Claims IT team has an opportunity for you to build on your career as a Quality Assurance Leader. In this role, you will establish QA practice within the Agile and DevSecOps realm as well as participate in the entire software development lifecycle process, delivering quality and resiliency through continuous process improvements while driving efficiencies through innovations with emerging technologies.
This role's focus is on our new Digital Enablement value stream that is responsible for several shared enterprise platforms such as Customer Identify and Access Management (CIAM), Mobile, Publishing, Document, and Business Process Management, which all are in various phases of modernization and cloud migrations.
Responsibilities
- Establishes QA strategy, including end to end strategy for projects/programs. Accountable for end-to-end testing.
- Work in alignment and in parallel with the development teams to help drive early automation (unit testing and integration testing) and create the QA components of DevOps delivery pipeline for the project/program.
- Actively participate and facilitate in daily scrums to help establish a Test-Driven Development / Behavior driven development approach.
- Leads in the development of overall QA plans and timetables. Leads the QA staff in the preparation and conduct of acceptance testing of new or revised applications/systems.
- Leads and facilitates defect management through the software lifecycle.
- Is a hands-on tester when scale/scope of projects require and capacity is available.
- Provides guidance in the creation of standard test environments, tests plans and test scripts. Provides direction on automation framework/tools/automation targets.
- Analyzes, designs new or modified Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and standards and assists in the development and implementation of QA metrics for assessing the quality of delivered application software.
- Performs QA analysis, design and implementation of new or modified complex QA procedures and standards and guides the development of QA metrics.
- Provides technical expertise to Finance and IT management and staff regarding the design and implementation of quality application software and systems.
- Displays critical thinking skills by identifying and resolving risks and issues in a proactive manner. Can balance attention to detail with the strategic view.
- Suggests process improvements and steps for successful implementation. Can lead stretch assignments associated with department goals.
- May have supervisory responsibility in instructing, assigning, directing and checking the work of the resources within their section/department. Assists the manager in guidance, leadership and provides training to less experienced QA staff and assists the Manager in the review and evaluation of the work of the staff. Acts as a mentor for new team members.
- Position your team to adopt shift left approach in testing.
- Enable your team to adopt BDD concepts and work in SAFE agile methodology.
- Partners with Corporate Finance business leaderships and business leads to streamline QA processes.
- Partners with Engineering, Technical Leads, and Architects to drive performance and disaster testing to assess system readiness.
- Implement and analyze regression reports, code quality, automated builds and KPI's.
- May facilitate UAT working closely with business teams. Coordinates and executes QA support during UAT.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience in IT industry, Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance/ Quality Control is preferred with over 3 years of hands-on expertise in developing and scripting automated test (using test automation tools such as UFT or scripting languages such as Python)
- 3+ years of experience in leading team and or vendor partner(s).
- 2+ years of experience working in an Agile environment with the use of tools like Rally, GitHub, and Copilot is a strong plus.
- Strong knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand team needs includes fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
- Experience/Understanding of CI/CD Pipeline - DevOps, Agile, Digital and Data Testing, Test Data Management, Test Environment Management.
- Strong systems development and project lifecycle execution skills are required including process design, project planning and execution, production support testing skills and the ability to manage large scale change programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present confidently before a large audience.
- Experience with working in multi-sourced, offshore delivery centers, and shared services environment; Able to apply process maturity principles and practices in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to forge and manage relationships across stakeholder groups.
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$108,800 - $163,200
