This IT Leadership role within the Personal Lines Technology Organization will be accountable for organizing and delivering the Product Auto and Home Value Streams roadmap. The leader must have a proven history of leading and delivering significant business initiatives within an Agile delivery model. This role will lead scaled Agile teams to deliver capabilities that achieve critical business KPIs and OKRs, in collaboration with Value Stream owners, Business Owners, Architecture and other shared technology services.

The Hartford is proud to offer a hybrid work location model designed to support flexibility. This position requires office presence in Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC minimally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with remote flexibility Monday and Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • E2E accountability of Execution/Quality/Financial/workforce of strategic invest and maintenance work from architecture, design, engineering, quality, prod deployment covering NFR (Compliance, Audit, SOX controls, Disaster Recovery)
  • Partner with Business Owners / Agile product management team to drive the right business value and sequencing of capabilities
  • Develop and lead a large organization through strong workforce strategies. HR Management accountability for a team of scrum masters, RTEs (Release Train Engineer), and QA (Quality Assurance) leads, including coaching/mentoring and building the next generation and level of execution and application development leaders
  • Effectively manage multiple vendor partners in an onshore/offshore environment
  • Leverage Rally and Agile metrics to proactively identify and manage risks and issues to ensure successful delivery
  • Ensure solid governance practices to execute successfully in a scaled agile environment
  • Clear communication of status and risks to executives across business, technology, and partner organizations
  • Manages and negotiates complicated stakeholder relationships within their Value Streams, other Value Streams, and business leadership
  • Accountability for financial management including cost and time estimation to deliver business value
  • Accountability to mature DevOps, improving automation to enable continuous delivery, and building high performing software engineering teams with a focus on continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of IT leadership experience executing in a complex scaled agile environment
  • Proven history as a results-oriented IT leader that collaborates well with business leaders and manages business outcomes.
  • Engineering mindset with a solid background in technology, engineering, and familiarity with all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Strong understanding of business strategy and aligning technology roadmaps to business
  • Servant leadership abilities with skills in cultivating tech talent for the future through coaching, developing, and mentoring
  • Ability to successfully work across all levels of the organization, including interacting with senior management
  • Experience managing complex vendor relationships and experience working with an offshore delivery model
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with thorough attention to detail
  • Proven leadership through IT transformations in building, managing, and scaling teams to deliver outcomes
  • Property & Casualty insurance experience is preferred
  • Prior Duck Creek technology solutions experience a plus

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$140,640 - $210,960
