The Cloud Services organization is searching for a Director, Cloud Engineering with a strong passion for cloud technologies to help drive and expand our overall Cloud Community. While serving as the lead of our Cloud Community, this individual contributor position will facilitate and manage communications, working sessions across the cloud community, and disseminate information regarding Cloud Transformation using new and existing communications channels. Education is an important pillar of a successful Cloud Community and this leader will focus on building a scalable curriculum to better curate training in support of employee upskilling through our Cloud Transformation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the centralized communication hub for the Cloud Services organization by managing holistic change management framework and ownership of channels including the cloud community portal, Microsoft team's channels, user forums, and training platforms.
  • Facilitate communications regarding Cloud Transformation using various channels such as SharePoint Online, Yammer, Teams, Newsletter Email, and GitHub.
  • Develop, publish, and manage content in support of newsletters, road shows, and other communications vehicles in support of socializing and communicating cloud transformation efforts.
  • Facilitate sessions such as Road Shows, Lunch and Learns, Training Sessions, and other "user group" sessions to help communicate and disseminate information regarding Cloud Transformation efforts and Cloud Products.
  • Manage, maintain, and continue to enhance The Hartford's Cloud Community Portal, the entryway to all things Cloud across The Hartford's IT Organization.
  • Develop Cloud Learning Curriculum and partner with the IT Learning Team and other Cloud Teams to help develop training content such as documentation, lab exercises, and curated training to assist with upskilling efforts for cloud migration and operational support.
  • Champion cloud education through the development of foundational and persona-based learning curricula across the technology organization at The Hartford
  • Develop, enforce, and improve documentation framework and communications standards in support these activities.
  • Lead the alignment of our collective IT teams across Cloud Engineering, Cloud Transformation, Reliability Engineering, Software Engineering, Enterprise and Solution Architectures, and others to develop a common approach to solving challenges across our cloud environment.
  • Conduct Voice of Customer sessions across the enterprise IT organization and build and execute actionable improvement plans across the Cloud Services and Cloud Transformation Teams

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of software development, infrastructure, or data engineering experience and best practices.
  • An open mind with a strong desire to learn and adapt is crucial to the success of this role. Must have a "self-starter" mentality with the ability to self-manage and execute tasks. The candidate must have the ability to proactively identify customer issues, seek improvement opportunities from customers, and effectively communicate solutions to a wide audience.
  • Ability to think from a customer perspective and communicate and engage with a "customer-focused" mindset.
  • Cloud experience is required. In addition to being passionate about cloud, the candidate must consistently monitor emerging technology concepts and have a consultation mindset to help resolve customers challenges and embed their feedback into the Cloud Engineering development cycles.
  • Must be a strong information technology generalist with the ability to understand technical detail and help communicate that information to others.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills with a transformation mindset. Ability to build relationships, influence others, and communicate with various levels of the organization including engineers and middle-senior management.
  • Candidate must have strong organizational awareness with the ability to operate in a matrixed organization and possess the ability recognize and address talent skillset gaps.
  • Strong foundation in Change Management and talent upskilling is a plus.
  • Experience with SharePoint Online, PowerAutomate, PowerBI, GitHub, and other tools is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS is preferred but other 3rd party cloud experience will be considered.
  • Cloud certification or willingness to attain certification.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$160,880 - $241,320
