Job Description

Duties:

Responsible for the development, supervision, and overall operation of the Classification area of a correctional facility. Supervision of assigned Correction Program Officers. Responsible for Classification of Incarcerated Individuals and ensures all Classification Boards are conducted in compliance with Department and Institutional Policies. Responsible for performing Juvenile Lifer reclassification boards. Responsible for ensuring all Housing Risks are completed in a timely manner including 6-month Housing Risk reviews for GNC incarcerated individuals. Responsible for acting as the LEP Contact and the Media Liaison for the facility. Act as the ADA Coordinator back-up for the facility. Oversees the classification process and the transfer of Incarcerated Individuals to other DOC facilities. Monitor and track BAU population. Screens detainees for alternate placement, schedule the classification boards, serves as the Superintendent sign off designee for classification placement. Reviews Classification Boards for quality by ensuring the information contained is both complete and correct. Responsible for the Orientation of sentenced Incarcerated Individuals and awaiting trial detainees. Conducts assessments as required. Responsible for the preparation Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports. Ensures Risk and Needs Assessments are complete and monitored during classification. Address Incarcerated Individuals concerns regarding classification/status. Participates in reentry process from arrival to departure of each sentenced Incarcerated Individual. Conduct round in all units. Participate in weekly special housing unit meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have working knowledge the Massachusetts Department of Correction classification system and inmate management system (IMS). Must have experience working with Incarcerated Individuals. Must have thorough knowledge of the operation and security procedures of a Correctional Facility.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.

III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.

IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required experience.
