Job Description
The Department of Mental Health is seeking to hire an intern who will support the Northeast Area (NEA) Andover Respite Program to develop and implement an engaging active Milieu treatment program. The Intern would work at the Andover-Respite State Operated Program to teach the different aspects of the insurance offerings under the MassHealth umbrella and how to navigate the system using Smartphone technology, including but not limited to meeting with providers using video conferencing (zoom, doxy). The ideal candidate will be familiar with using social media to connect with family, friends and peers who share the same hobbies and interests. A component of the internship would include smartphone basics, for example calendar reminders, saving contacts and email access.

The candidate will also spend time with residents daily engaging in conversation, watching movies together, doing a puzzle in the milieu and always referring any acute concerns to staff, while helping to support the development of health and wellness (in person or virtually). In addition to that, organize other group activities such as scheduling physical activities such as walking groups around poetry (45-60 min.), music listening parties, karaoke, prompt-guided journaling, or art-related activities. Organize field trips to the movies, mini-golf, beach, arcade, museums or any other activities that promote community involvement at minimal cost.

Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

May 27, 2025 through August 29, 2025
Additional Information:
Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals.
All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit.
The salary for this position is $19 an hour.
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
