Worcester, MA

Job Description

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) is the state agency responsible for ensuring clean air and water, the safe management of toxics and hazards, the recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources.

Watershed Planning Program

This Program runs from June 2024 through October 2024

Operations management support for the Watershed Planning Program The Watershed Planning Program (WPP) in the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) collects scientific data from lakes, rivers, and estuaries statewide in support of multiple water quality management objectives under the federal Clean Water Act (CWA). WPP uses this data to support development of water quality criteria in the Massachusetts Surface Water Quality Standards, assess and report on the condition of surface waters, prioritize waters for restoration, track water quality trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of restoration and protection efforts. To achieve the water quality management objectives outlined above, WPP requires administrative support for program operations to meet our overall obligations to internal and external stakeholders under the CWA. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the selected candidate will prepare and review documents, process and track purchases and invoices to ensure compliance with policies from the Operational Services Division and the Office of the Comptroller, and provide ongoing support to WPP staff to enhance efficiency.
