Job Description

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) Tewksbury Hospital Hathorne Units is seeking two experienced, dynamic and compassionate candidate to serve as a Clinical Social Worker (AB). The selected candidate will enhance the level of service provided to clients within an inpatient hospital setting while supporting the DMH initiative for recovery based practices and Person Centered Planning

Please Note: This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Days off are Saturday and Sunday.

Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Formulates independent psychosocial assessment, gathering information form current and past records: the patient: family, significant others and community providers as available.
  • Provides skilled individual, group and family therapy utilizing appropriate treatment techniques.
  • As assigned Team Social Worker, responsible for formulating team agenda and conducting team meetings and Periodic Reviews, monitors completion of documentation by all disciplines, exercising authority to ensure that work is completed.
  • Establishes timely linkages with community agencies to maximize continuity of care and timely discharges.
  • Communicates with the Patient Care Reimbursement Investigators to ensure that all entitlements are in place as soon as possible post admission, and in preparation for discharge. Ensures that evaluations of ability to managed funds are complete as per DMH policy.
  • Meets all Department of Mental Health, Department of Clinical Social Work, Hathorne Units, Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) / Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA) requirements for documentation.
  • May be assigned to committee work by the Director of Clinical Social Work.
  • May be required to produce reports and/or statistics at the request of the Director of Clinical Social Work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Independent Clinical social worker (LICSW)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Tewksbury Hospital operates a 370-bed facility and a campus of over 700 acres of land. Its patient care services are provided under the auspices of the Department of Public Health and Mental Health. Joint Commission accredited LTAC hospital that provides high quality, comprehensive treatment, care, and comfort to adults with chronic medical and mental illness. A full range of services are provided including 24/7 Nursing, Nurse Practitioners, Medicine as well as psychiatric and psychological services, a 6- bed dialysis unit, clinical laboratory, radiology, respiratory care, nutrition, speech/language, pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, therapeutic recreation and arts, and pharmacy.

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: None. (See Required Education and Licenses.)

REQUIRED EDUCATION: A Master's or higher degree in social work.

LICENSES: Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.

- Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work.
