Director - Packaging Sustainability, Procurement

This role within the Cross-Enterprise Procurement Group (CEPG) acts as the primary lead in the management and ongoing development of our CEPG packaging sustainability program. This will require coordination skills across various internal and external stakeholders including CEPG, Bottling Partners, TI&SC (Technical, Innovation and Supply Chain), PACS (Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability), OU (Operating Unit) and suppliers.

CEPG is part of Global Procurement & Supply Chain Services within Enterprise Services, the global business shared services organization within The Coca-Cola Company. The role reports into the Senior Director, Global Sustainability, Procurement.

  • Lead cross-functional rPET roadmap workshops to advance Packaging Sustainability goals by reviewing Bottler rPET roadmaps, modeling glidepaths by Bottler/OU's, and engaging Bottlers/OU's to identify, prioritize, and track risks & opportunities.
  • Support collection for recycling initiatives, develop expertise in feedstock collection for rPET production, and knowledge of bale collection systems to enhance circular solutions and supply chain efficiency. Provide global waste, collection, and recycling market analysis.
  • Support CEPG in understanding the opportunities with Enhanced/Advanced (chemical) recycling technologies by working with cross functional groups including R&D, SRA, Technical.
  • Lead the ongoing development of the Packaging Sustainability Strategy for Metals and Glass, collaborating with suppliers to develop recycled content and decarbonization roadmaps.
  • Ensure Packaging reporting cadences are met and support publication of annual sustainability reports and external commitments, focusing on Metals and Glass recycled content.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and industry stakeholders to influence priorities, form partnerships and establish projects to drive progress against our Packaging goals.
  • Represent CEPG in packaging initiatives, providing leadership and inputs for internal projects and external positioning, and regulatory guidance related to procurement impact and sustainability goals.
  • Support global procurement teams with sourcing strategies to achieve sustainable packaging goals and initiatives involving recycled content, collection, recyclability, decarbonization, etc.
  • Coordinate sustainability efforts for other packages (AFP, closures, labels, films, cups, secondary packaging etc.) as needed.

What You'll Do for Us

The Packaging Sustainability Director is responsible for accelerating CEPG's global packaging sustainability program across CEPG and with our Bottling Partners and suppliers. This role focuses on increasing recycled content and lowering the carbon footprint in primary packaging. The Packaging Sustainability Director will work extensively with the CEPG Procurement teams, Bottling Partners, suppliers, Operating Units, TI&SC, NGOs, and industry experts to build recycled content roadmaps, and identify opportunities to achieve packaging sustainability goals.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented employee to join our Procurement Sustainability team. The successful candidate will support various sustainability initiatives, focusing on project management, data analysis, and reporting. Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years experience in a sustainability or procurement related role.
  • Passion for sustainability, with experience in delivering sustainable supply chain programs preferred.
  • Coca-Cola System experience preferred.
  • Working as a Global Team: Ability to work as part of a virtual global team to collaborate across geographic and organizational boundaries to deliver better business results and share best practices across a global system.
  • Data and Analytics: Ability to use data and apply robust analytics to model various business scenarios and analyze resulting cost, impact, risks, and benefits to inform and recommend business solutions.
  • Competitive Analysis: Knowledge of sources for competitive analysis including supplier and industry data to build competitive intelligence, inform business planning and optimize decision making.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategies to increase recycled content and reduce carbon footprint in packaging.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report progress towards sustainability goals, ensuring alignment with the company's vision.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and align with stakeholders across Bottling Partners, TI&SC, PACS, OU's and suppliers to drive procurement strategies.
  • Reporting: Communicate progress and achievements to internal and external stakeholders, promoting transparency and collaboration.
