Boeing's Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) organization is seeking a Power Plant Operator A to join our growing team!

You will control and maintain multiple boilers and may control stationary engines, or other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings or for industrial and manufacturing purposes at an assigned plant.

You will have additional facilities located inside and outside your assigned plant to provide electrical power, steam, or other services (no personal travel required). You may control and maintain these systems, which include boilers, pumps, compressors, and may also include air conditioning and refrigeration equipment (chillers), turbines, and generators.

You will start up, regulate, repair, and shut down equipment. You will monitor meters, gauges, and computerized controls to ensure that equipment operates safely and within established limits. You will use electrical and electronic test equipment when servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and monitoring the systems under their control. You will also regularly perform routine maintenance. You may do a complete overhaul or replace defective valves, gaskets, or bearings. In addition, you will be responsible for lubricating moving parts, replacing filters, and removing soot and corrosion that can make a boiler less efficient.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Operate boilers, with responsibility to operate engines and boiler associated auxiliary equipment depending on location
  • Read gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations
  • Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels
  • Activate valves to change the amount of water, air, and fuel in boilers
  • Feed boilers using gas feeds or oil pumps, inspect and maintain equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently
  • Check safety devices and perform environmental checks routinely
  • Record data and keep logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activity

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Ability to pass and complete fall protection training and work with heights of seventy feet or more and not exceed weight restrictions
  • 3 + years of experience with boiler operations
  • Valid state driver's license
  • City of Seattle Steam Engineer's License Grade 1 or Grade 2

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This position is for variable shift.

A shift consists of 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift and relief shift (site dependent) and will be a permanent assigned schedule. This topic will be discussed during the interview with the hiring team.

Union:

This is an hourly position governed by the IUOE 302 Collective Bargaining agreement.

Summary pay range: $57.00 per hour
