Insurance Regulatory Resolution Consultant - The Auto Club Group

What you will do:

Provides primary oversight to the handling of and drafting responses to consumer complaints received from state regulatory insurance departments, the Compliance & Ethics department and other corporate business operations. Conducts legal research and analysis into consumer complaint allegations to include the discovery of any regulatory compliance violations. Develops written responses and/or communicates directly with consumers regarding complaint allegations to ensure a timely response and resolution.

Maintains electronic and paper complaint file document for internal audits and external examinations by state regulatory professionals to ensure compliance with applicable state regulations. Provides recommendations to Auto Club Group (ACG) management and employees in the review, handling and resolution of consumer complaints. Recommends process, product or service improvement opportunities to appropriate ACG management. Assists in training and promotion of complaint handling processes, procedures and techniques within ACG.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • College level course work in Business Administration, Education, Insurance, Liberal Arts or related field

Experience:

  • Professional experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry environment: Compliance & Ethics/Customer Service/Claims/Sales/Underwriting or related field
  • Legal/regulatory research analysis (e.g. Westlaw, INSource, ComplianceWare)
  • PC software applications and data reporting tools (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.)
  • Successfully managing multiple and competing priorities
  • Problem analysis and complaint resolution
  • Providing strong support to customer under adverse conditions

Knowledge and Skills:

  • insurance products and services including tort-based and no-fault automobile insurance frameworks
  • Fair Trade Practice Act (ACG)
  • Problem identification and resolution techniques
  • Quality standards for sales, service and claim handling
  • AAA National Quality standards as it relates to insurance
  • Insurance Code: Essential Insurance (Chapter 21) and No Fault Insurance (chapter 31) (MI)
  • Fair Credit Reporting (Credit Scoring)
  • ACG processes and procedures regarding Claims, Sales, Underwriting, pricing and product development (ACG)
  • Insurance regulatory requirements governing consumer complaint handling within multiple state insurance market
  • Planning, organizing and decision making
  • Analysis, compilation and interpretation of research findings
  • Work under pressure
  • Analyze and summarize
  • Research regulatory/statutory information
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to include letter writing, report preparation and presentations (A writing sample may be required at time of interview)

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Education, Insurance, Liberal Arts or related field

Experience in:

  • Regulatory oversight in an insurance related environment
  • Business conduct review or investigations

Work Environment

This is a hybrid work arrangement (time spent in office and remote). Depending on the employee's role and leadership's assessment, some employees will come in to an ACG facility on a weekly basis, a monthly basis, or on an "as needed" basis for key meetings and collaborative activities. Most employees will be required to come into the office, at a minimum, for important departmental meetings or teambuilding events.
