Quality Assurance Technician - Part-Time, Evening Shift

JOB TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN, PART-TIME, EVENING SHIFT

Job Summary : The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is a regular, part-time hourly position responsible for daily lab duties required to ensure the highest quality product possible. This includes, but is not limited to, aseptic sampling, monitoring and documenting the microbiological and chemical analysis of all things related to the brewing, fermentation, and packaging processes, and assisting the QA team in sensory panel analysis. This individual will report directly to the QA Manager and will be required to deliver results in a timely and efficient manner.

This position works a dedicated evening shift and, as a condition of employment, requires weekend availability.

Essential Job Functions :
  • Collect samples of materials & finished goods throughout the brewery for laboratory and sensory analysis.
  • Data gathering, entry, and analysis lab results, yeast counts, sensory taste panel data, fermentation/brew-day data, etc.
  • Assist with the administration of sensory panels and in collecting data as directed.
  • Promptly & accurately compile recordable data from results of tasting panel into Excel files. Maintain an accurate inventory of charts & graphs depicting sensory data.
  • In line with Company standards for communication, provide QA results and analysis with applicable brewery staff and management.
  • Rigid compliance with established Company guidelines for safe and effective quality assurance analysis and all state & federal environmental & safety regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining Quality Assurance lab in a clean and efficient manner with safety as the top priority.
  • Ability to operate and perform maintenance on all Quality Assurance laboratory equipment including but not limited to our Pentair DGM-03 CO 2 meter and Pentair o-DGM Dissolved Oxygen meter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements :

2-year degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Fermentation Science or a similar science-based degree program. ( Or) completion of relevant coursework during pursuit of undergraduate degree program for Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Fermentation Science or a similar science-based degree program.

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and bend, twist, crouch, kneel, and stand for 4-6 hours at a time.

Must be able to work varying shifts, including weekends, dependent on the operational business needs of the brewery.

Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

Candidates must be proficient in MS Office software including Excel and Word.
