Overview

TD Private Trust, part of TD Wealth Private Wealth Management, provides a full range of trust services to clients, including individuals, corporations, First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and charitable entities. Our focus is on long-term relationship building, the protection of assets, and the responsible administration and management of financial plans.

We are seeking a Trust Officer - Indigenous Trust Services (ITS) who will act as a specialist in trust administration, delivering a legendary client experience while managing trust accounts for Indigenous clients. The successful candidate will work alongside senior members of the Indigenous Trust Services team on complex accounts and contribute to a fast-growing and rewarding environment.

Is this role right for you?

As a Trust Officer - Indigenous Trust Services, you will:

  • Act as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients, including elected officials, trustees, community members, and their legal/financial representatives.
  • Manage trust account administration in accordance with governing documents, policies, and compliance standards.
  • Participate in Council and trustee meetings, community information sessions, and trust education programming.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering professional presentations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support internal partners in identifying client needs and delivering comprehensive wealth management solutions.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with Indigenous Communities and external centres of influence (COIs).
  • Proactively identify new business opportunities through day-to-day account interactions.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate collection of fees and contribute to the growth of the ITS business.
  • Ensure all new clients are welcomed in accordance with TD Private Trust's Indigenous Trust Services policies and procedures.

Client Experience & Community Involvement

  • Deliver a customer-first experience during every interaction, ensuring legendary service and advice.
  • Remain in contact with investment managers, accountants, lawyers, and other professionals as required.
  • Ensure that tax and administrative services are executed by internal and external partners.
  • Represent TD Private Trust in Indigenous Communities with professionalism and respect.
  • Support TD Bank's charitable and community initiatives with active involvement.

Operational & Risk Responsibilities

  • Uphold TD's Code of Conduct and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ensure all administration is in full compliance with trust agreements, governing documents, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mitigate risk through consistent documentation and application of policies and procedures.
  • Exercise sound judgment in matters requiring discretionary decision-making.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping and reporting.

Development & Business Growth

  • Support the continued growth of the ITS portfolio by acting as a trusted resource in Indigenous trust administration.
  • Manage a book of complex Indigenous trust accounts with diligence and integrity.
  • Identify and refer opportunities to TD Wealth partners to meet client financial needs.
  • Deliver high-caliber presentations to clients and community representatives.
  • Protect the interests of TD Private Trust through continuous compliance and risk management.

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Trust Officer designation (or willingness to pursue).
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or willingness to complete.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • Proven discretion and judgment in trust administration.
  • Ability to travel by air, water, or vehicle, primarily within Ontario; travel outside regular business hours may be required.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, including in potentially sensitive or complex scenarios.
  • Strong attention to detail, personal integrity, and credibility.

Preferred:

  • Completion of ICB courses or TEP designation.
  • Additional professional designations (e.g., MBA, CPA, LLB, CFA).
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of trust and estate administration, taxation, and investment strategies.
  • Familiarity and comfort working with Indigenous Communities.
