The Wholesale Banking Finance Group is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information, and management support within TD Securities (TDS). A key function within the department is the oversight and governance related to execution and reporting of fair value, in support of TD Securities' business objectives. To ensure the accuracy, valuation, and reporting of financial instruments for financial accounting purposes, the successful candidate will work with different stakeholders to ensure that business lines adhere to policies and procedures, and controls are effective.
Position Summary: (Overview of key purpose and accountability of the role)
Within Controller & Chief Accountants in Finance, The Product Control Function is a team of professionals with deep product, business and controlling expertise covering the end-to-end accountability for financial results in support of TD Securities. The team will be responsible for maintaining, executing, and providing oversight of the financial controls for all TDS business lines. The team will also provide financial analysis and advice to key control partners and the TDS front office.
As a Senior Manager covering Valuation Controls including Policies and Governance in the Product Control Team, you are accountable for ensuring accurate and timely reporting, controls, and governance for valuations at TD Securities. This role will liaise with Front Office, Information Technology, Risk, Finance and other control functions and key stakeholders. As well be a key advisor to the front-office, Risk, Finance, and other key stakeholders providing insight and analysis on TDS and the Bank's fair value results.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop and steer the implementation of the framework, Policies, execution and reporting processes for Prudent Valuation Adjustments (PruVal) in TD Securities.
- Oversee the execution of UK and Dublin regional valuation committee
- Ensure the European regional fair value reporting and Financial fair value disclosure are following various Valuation Policies
- Liaise with global valuation and IPV team to review and challenge regional (European) valuation results.
- Liaise with internal auditor and regulators during examinations on valuation related topics
- Inform senior management and key stakeholders of any significant irregularities
- Identify opportunities and implement objectives to improve/streamline processes to sustain TDS business growth
Job Requirements
- Ability to lead and influence.
- Extensive experience in valuations policies, control and governance is a requirement.
- Expertise in Prudent Valuation Adjustment (PruVal) framework
- In-depth knowledge and experience working with capital markets, financial derivatives, valuations, accounting, and control practices.
- Keeping abreast of emerging issues, industry trends, new technologies and evolving regulatory requirements to proactively assess potential impact.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with business partners, stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrate resiliency in the face of new problems and/or challenges while adapting quickly to change.
Additional Information
- Pursuit or completion of professional accreditation (CPA/CFA/MBA) is an asset.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Mathematics (Engineering, Physics, Computer Science) or other quantitative disciplines
- Capital markets, finance, accounting, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative disciplines.
- Must have 10+ years' practical experience in Valuation team, experience in Prudent Valuation Adjustment (PruVal) process set up is preferred. Demonstrated deep expertise in valuation topics prescribed per regulatory/accounting rules and industry practice for IPV and valuation adjustment control processes.
Risk Management Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying and reporting Operational Risk Events in accordance with policy
- Responsible, along with all colleagues, to contribute in a positive way to TDGF's reputation and the management of Reputational Risk. If you are a Manager/Supervisor you are also responsible for ongoing and effective supervision of the employees under your direction and ensure their adherence to regulatory requirements. You will promptly report to TD Management and Compliance any violation or possible violation of such regulatory requirements identified as part of your supervisory responsibilities.
You must take reasonable steps to demonstrate that you exercise due skill, care and diligence in managing and/or delegating your responsibilities outlined, appropriately.

- The TD Policies and regulatory requirements pertaining to the business/activities you are managing.
- The competence level of the staff, if any, reporting to you.
