Department Overview
Platforms & Technology enables the Bank's strategy by providing applications, data, and infrastructure for businesses and functions to serve clients and colleagues. P&T also protects TD's clients from fraud and safeguards the Bank from technology, cyber, and physical security risks. We play a critical role in enabling the Bank to adapt to changing client preferences, competitive challenges, technological shifts, emerging threats, and regulatory changes
Within P&T sit the following segments: 1. Canadian Business Technology, 2. US Technology, 3. Data, Corporate Technology and Procurement, 4. Delivery and Operations, 5. Infrastructure and Engineering, 6. TD Securities and Payments Technology Solutions and 7. Protect/Governance.
The P&T Strategy and Insights team sits within the Delivery & Operations department, which aims to advance P&T and the broader bank through insights, business services, and colleague experiences to achieve the P&T strategy, deliver project and Agile@Scale portfolios, and deliver exceptional outcomes for customers and colleagues. Our team supports P&T's Sr. Executive Vice President and P&Ts Senior leadership team to review strategic issues facing the organization and provides forward-thinking, fact-based analysis and decision support to help drive organizational alignment, effectiveness, and performance.
The P&T Strategy & Insights team is led by a VP and includes 2 roles that focus on Strategy (1 manager (this role), and a Sr. Manager) and 2 colleagues who focus on Insights (managing the P&T Scorecard, which tracks progress against P&T's priorities). Reporting to the same VP are 2 other teams: the Product Owner Practice Team and the Analyst Practice Team. Our team is North American in nature, with colleagues located in various cities across Canada (Toronto, Ottawa etc.) as well as in the U.S.
Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, P&T Strategy & Insights, the successful candidate will:
- Support the planning, coordination, and drafting of materials leveraged by P&Ts Sr. Executive Vice President for various meetings and presentations such as: the Monthly Operating Committee with TD's CEO, offsites for TD's Senior Executive Team, TD's Board of Directors as well as ad-hoc presentations and meetings
- Support the development of P&T's short-, medium-, and long-term strategy and priorities
- Develop and manage scorecards and performance reporting to enable effective business and workforce planning
- Conduct research, analysis and prepare briefings, memos, presentations and other communications
- Communicate key insights, ideas, and strategies in an impactful and compelling manner to senior leaders (in-person and through memos and presentation decks)
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, collaborative spirit and high level of integrity
- Ensure we maintain strategic governance & alignment by working with partners across Platforms and Technology and the Enterprise
- Support the design, development, and implementation of any changes to measure performance.
- Proactively identify opportunities and recommend solutions which align to the P&T Strategy and business objectives
- Build relationships and collaborate with internal partners such as:
- Internal to P&T: senior executive leaders, special assistant, business operations leads, subject matter experts, P&T Scorecard team
- Across the enterprise: the Enterprise Strategy Team who works closely with the Office of the CEO, other LOB/Segment Strategy Teams such as the Transformation, Enablement and Customer Experience Strategy Team
Job Requirements
- Interest in Technology and knowledge/awareness of Financial Industry Technology trends
- Practical relevant experience in the following areas: Strategy, Technology, Communications, Change Management, Business Management
- Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities, and expert communication skills and storytelling capabilities
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Superior proficiency and expertise with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Effective business partner and collaborator, who actively engages others in planning and execution
