Who we are looking for

SSGA's Global Funds Management ("GFM") team drives sound fund oversight programs across SSGA's funds and services. We are seeking a motivated Vice President within the APAC Funds Management team with Australian Responsible Entity experience, who can excel in a fast-paced environment while working cohesively with other internal and external counterparts. Are you that person?

For this role, you will manage a small team that oversees oversight/governance for both listed and unlisted funds in the APAC region with a focus on managing the Australian Responsible Entity. You will also have corporate secretarial responsibilities for the broader business in SSGA Australia.

What you will be responsible for

As APAC Funds Management Vice President, you will

  • Strong understanding of the Australian regulatory requirements for both listed and unlisted investment schemes;
  • Monitoring and oversight of all service providers for the Australian Responsible Entity including investment managers, custodian, administrator, auditors, and unit registry;
  • Maintaining all corporate records for the Australian Responsible Entity, including those required under the Corporations Act and those relevant to ASX listed products;
  • Primary contact for Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and for ASX Compliance;
  • Managing regulatory lodgments for the establishment and/or termination of funds;
  • Coordination of tax and distribution calculations from the administrator and reporting to unitholders;
  • Co-ordinating Compliance Committee meetings which includes liaison with external committee members and maintaining the Compliance Plan;
  • Authorising payments from the Australian Responsible Entity and/or individual funds;
  • Corporate Secretary for both the Australian Responsible Entity and for State Street Global Advisors Australia Limited;
  • Overseeing the Asia ex Japan Fund Management Staff which primarily covers Unitholder Notices, Fund Documentation, Financial Statement Preparations, Regulatory Reporting and engagement of Fund Trustees and Tax Agents.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree and 10+ years of experience in the Asset Management Industry
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in managing individuals
  • Prior experience as a responsible manager with the knowledge and skills required by ASIC as per Section C of Regulatory Guide 105 ("RG 105")
  • Working knowledge of Australian investment schemes including listed and unlisted funds
  • Strong leadership traits and ability to manage individuals

Additional requirements

  • Knowledge of other fund regulations within APAC is a plus
