THE ROLE

The VP, Global Programming and Retail Experience is responsible for defining and leading the creation of our Flagship location programming and luxury client experiences in our retail salons worldwide, both in-person and virtually. This role will create experiences and moments to drive repeat traffic and engagement by connect clients to the Sotheby’s universe in compelling and unexpected ways through experiential formats including exhibitions, masterclasses, private events, artist/celebrity collaborations, and loyalty initiatives. This role will oversee the creation of paid service formats in categories such as bridal, gifting, and other consultative services, and will work with marketing and PR partners to activate campaigns and client engagement moments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and lead the creation of experiential programming at Sotheby’s Flagship locations worldwide
  • Design the client experience around a robust suite of paid services and events programming
  • Implement loyalty programming and other strategies to deliver increased client LTV, visit frequency, and retention
  • Partner across marketing and PR to lead the creation of salon marketing and PR initiatives to increase awareness, new client acquisition, and client lifetime value

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA is desired
  • 10+ years in luxury and/or omnichannel retail with experience in retail operations, events and experiences, and marketing and client engagement. Experience in luxury, hospitality, startup, and/or strategy consulting a plus
  • Experience bringing new services and experiences to market successfully
  • Proven track record in driving scalable change and business transformations
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change – retail is an emergent function within Sotheby’s and an entrepreneurial mindset is important
  • Willingness to continuously improve, develop, and understand industry best practices and a desire to stay ahead of the curve and at the forefront of innovation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team (local and global)
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Be proactive/motivated/confident/forward thinking and efficient, with a good eye for detail and ability to prioritise tasks and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
  • Fluent in English essential, other languages beneficial

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $150,000 - $200,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
