Senior Director, Product Research

We’re looking for a Senior Director of Product Research to join Snap Inc! In this role reporting to the Head of Design, you’ll lead the teams that use Product Research to surface insights and identify opportunities that steer our product vision across Snap Inc. and all of its products and customer types. Working from our headquarters in Santa Monica, you’ll collaborate closely with the Design, Product Management, Data Science, Engineering, Business and Partnerships teams to lead product research to provide clear company-wide prioritization and impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and grow the Product Research organization for Snap Inc., including all of our products (Snapchat, Spectacles, Lens Studio, etc) and customer types 

  • Build a high performance, responsive team of mix-method researchers that are able to lead company-wide strategic and tactical research and identify both long and mid-term product strategies

  • Establish and uphold Product Research best practices and principles

  • Play a critical role in building the research-informed culture throughout Snap. Be a thought leader and evangelist to drive research-informed decision-making throughout the company

  • Develop an investment strategy to define, grow and maintain an exemplary Product Research team

  • Implement a leveling and performance management system for Product Research as a whole, across Snap Inc

  • Partner with product and business leadership to define overall research strategy, agenda, relevant metrics, key problem statements and objectives around new or existing product lines across a range of product verticals

  • Use Research to inform business and product strategies

  • Identify and prioritize actionable strategies based on research. Communicate detailed research narratives and ensure the insights are translated into actionable direction.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams with researchers of different disciplines

  • Have strong research domain know-how to coach and grow the team; proficiency with a breadth of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and ability to come up with creative research solutions as needed.

  • Proficient in both quantitative and quantitative research methods and analysis 

  • Have a strong builder mentality, can bring order to chaos, and know how to effectively “bring people along”

  • Experience in a complex, cross-functional organization where your teams need to collaborate and integrate with other teams across many disciplines

  • Strong strategic business acumen, change management, and continuous improvement champion

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to partner with and get buy-in from key stakeholders

  • Experience defining core strategic goals for a consumer technology or digital entertainment company and translating research findings into strategic narratives

  • Can demonstrate clear understanding of business and product metrics

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience

  • 10+ years relevant experience within research, data science, or statistics at a consumer products or technology company, digital entertainment

  • 8+ years of executive management or senior product leadership at a technology company, digital entertainment company, or a venture capital firm

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years in a senior management role at a consumer technology company

  • Advanced degree in statistics, analytics, mathematics, computer science, or related technical field

  • Experience in quantitative analysis or data science

  • Experience launching large-scale consumer-facing products

  • Experience with product design or product management
