The Solution Specialist's primary role is to provide the technical design of SE data centre solutions. The role is instrumental in providing the technical support to the SE sales organization. This individual will be expected to have and maintain a high level of knowledge across the entire SE product portfolio. They require strong electrical & mechanical design knowledge in critical power protection infrastructure.
The Solution Specialist will be the technical owner of the data centre design from concept to fulfillment. They will need to understand data centre best practices and integrate ancillary products with SE products to provide a comprehensive solution.
The Solution Specialist is expected to have strong communication skills and will be expected to deliver technical proposals, presentations and trainings to both external and internal parties. The ability to establish and deliver the customers technical requirements is essential. You will be required to understand and position the SE value proposition for different partners and customer segments.
As part of this role the Solution Specialist will also support the sales team's engagement with the Regional Application Centre and Centre of Competency Team.
What will you do?
- Provide both pre-and post sales support to the country sales (direct & channel) teams focusing on products/solution
features and benefits, data centre design and configurations - Work with sales team on the relationship and technical management of large deals
- Work with sales team to provide technical assistance to reseller and end-user accounts
- Identify and steer opportunities and assist the sales team with pre-sales activities including the development of
proposals, running technical workshops and conducting demonstrations and presentations - Co-ordinate technical sales seminars for business partners, Consulting Engineers and end-users on the benefits and
features, key application environments and how to sell, of APC product range - Serve as the key resource in the set-up, implementation and management of the Demo/Training Room
- Undertake tasks requiring technical analysis, diagnosis and problem solving, qualifying the product fit and defining
support needs - Translate solution concept into detailed technical specification using our various Tools
- Involve in the New Product Development (NPD) Process to ensure meeting of the customers technical needs
- Design and configure solutions in conjunction with customers and assist sales/partners to formulate the solution
offering made up of power, cooling, racking, management and services for end users - Facilitate and monitor activities escalated to Configuration Engineers, Project Managers and other support functions for
critical projects implemented through assigned resellers - Liaise with third party sub-contractors to obtain quotations and design specifications for products outside of APC's
manufactured range to complete a customer solution - Use reporting tools (e.g., Siebel, Lotus Notes, Build Out Tool) as the source and archive for all data, actions,
commitments, and tracking of business - Maintain an in-depth knowledge of APC and Schneider Electric products to fulfil customer needs
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering / Electronic Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in electrical and mechanical design and critical facilities applications
- Single and 3-phase power experience is essential. Cooling systems experience is preferred. Data Centre - Facilities
Management or consulting engineering experience is an advantage - Background engineering and documentation experience in the Public Sector or Oil and Gas sector would be a distinct
advantage for this position - Strong understanding of the M&E design requirements for the installation of large and complex data center
- Some understanding of business and financial terms such as Capex, Opex, ROI etc.
