We are looking for a Senior Database DevOps Engineer in the US (Seattle/San Francisco) for our global team. The ideal candidate will have a strong Database background and public cloud exposure (eg AWS, GCP) to work with a team responsible for the architecture, design, development, and testing of the next generation of RDBMS. You will need a solid understanding of database internals, distributed systems, high availability, replication, scalability, and performance. You will be participating in Database Reliability responsibility for Salesforce databases infrastructure. You must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Key to this position will be a beginner's mindset, a Can Do Attitude, a focus on technical excellence, and Reliability software development in a secure, high-performance, highly available (99.99%), and fully resilient infrastructure.

The CRM Database Sustaining Engineering team is a fast-paced, dynamic, global team delivering and supporting databases & its cloud infrastructure to meet the substantial growth needs of the business. In this role, you will collaborate with other Application, Systems, Network, Database, Storage, and other infrastructure Engineering teams in delivering innovative solutions in an agile, dynamic environment. You will be part of the Global Team and engage in 247 support responsibility within US. Being part of a global team, you will need to occasionally be flexible in your working hours to be in sync globally. You will also be investing yourself into the Salesforce cloud database running on cutting-edge cloud technology & responsible for its reliability.

Job Requirements
A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, or similar role is required.
Proficiency in coding SQL/PLSQL and at least one procedural language such as Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, and C++.
Expertise in Database and SQL performance tuning in one of the relational databases.
Broad and deep knowledge of relational databases (Oracle & PostgreSQL )
Experience with related cloud technologies: Docker, Spinnaker, Terraform, Helm, Jenkins, GIT, etc. Exposure to zookeeper fundamentals & Kubernetes is highly desirable.
Exposure and deep understanding of non-relational database technologies as well as preferable Hadoop, HDFS, or equivalent technologies.
Excellent Problem-solving skills and experience with Production Incident Management / Root Cause analysis.
Experience with mission-critical distributed systems service, including supporting Database Production Infrastructure with 24x7x365 support responsibilities.
Exposure to a fast-paced environment with a large-scale cloud infrastructure setup.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with DevOps (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, GKE, deployment to AWS).
Exposure to Hadoop Filesystem and Apache Zookeeper/Bookkeeper is a plus.
Knowledge of metrics & monitoring (e.g., Grafana, Splunk, Argus, etc.)
Experience in Infrastructure as Code / Automation is a plus.
Should have worked in Agile methodology.
Working knowledge of all software development life cycle phases, from initial requirements to operational support.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $157,600 to $216,700.

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $172,000 to $236,500.
