Japan Operating Units Corporate Communications is a team working every day to build trusted brand presence, understanding and brand love for Salesforce. Our day-to-day is media management, public relations strategy as well as integrated communications with our executive management team, marketing, and internal comms colleagues. This is a fast paced sector and we're a new team, forming as we go and working in one of the most dynamic areas of technology. Role Description:
This role requires an experienced senior communicator and will play a critical role in the development and implementation of Salesforce Japan's overall corporate communication/Product PR strategy in alignment with Global Comms tailored to Japan market liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
This role will drive the development and implementation of a focused PR strategy to proactively communicate the agreed Salesforce's corporate messages to targeted media. The role will be directly responsible for the Corporate PR/Product PR strategy and closely work with Global Corporate Comms, Internal communications and Marketing, etc. The candidate for this job position is a strategic thinker and planner simultaneously. First-rate written and verbal communication skills are also important. Experience in the media or the in-house corporate PR background is also essential for the position.
Responsibilities:
Oversees key external corporate communication strategies including media interviews, speaking engagements, press releases, executive communications, and other materials to enhance and protect reputation.
- Communications Strategy: Lead the development and execution of a corporate communications strategy with in-depth understanding of products/solutions that will drive significant awareness and understanding for Salesforce across the market, by considering relevant media to the audiences: not only traditional media exposure, but always-on amplification in digital, social and owned media such as Salesforce News & Insight website.
- Executive Communications: Supportexecutive communications programs for our Japan execs building their profiles across the industry through bold and authentic narratives that drive tier 1 media, speaking opportunities and thought leadership engagement.
- Corporate news and Strategic Comms: Stay close to the corporate news and products/industry agenda to ensure that Salesforce has a relevant voice in the current news cycle and establishes a thought leadership position in the market.
- Strategic counsel and Crisis Communications: Act as a go-to point of escalation for strategic communications guidance across the business. Have the capacity to handle crisis and other reactive PR situations with grace and ease, knowing when and how to respond to media inquiries. Identify and escalate potential public issues that may impact Salesforce, diffuse rumors, and resolve conflicting messages.
- Be an internal reliable communication partner: Closely work with internal counterparts.
- Operations: Support the management processes around budgeting, reporting, media certification and other global alignment programs.
- Media relations: Stay closely connected to the media and extend the current industry network.
- Team management: Lead Corporate Comm team and ensure to make an alignment and decisions with cross-functional organization.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 12-15+ years experience in in-house and public relations agency in corporate communication area. Experience working for or with a global organization in a corporate PR capacity. IT industry and/or B2B experience preferred
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills. Strong business level Japanese and English.
- Extensive knowledge and network with media/journalists in Japan. Established direct relationships across the business, technology and marketing media
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, creative and fast-paced environment while multitasking, re-prioritizing projects and communicating priority updates to business partners.
- Positive, flexible attitude and cool and calm under pressure with the ability to adapt to changing priorities while managing media queries and demands. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A true team player. Highly collaborative with exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Exposure to managing key stakeholder relationships. Impeccable critical thinking and no ego - we are a dynamic team and everyone pitches in to get the job done. Delivers on promises.
- Several years experience managing a team is necessary. Excellent talent and organization development capability. Helps develop team members' career paths, and conducts quarterly/annual performance reviews
- Excellent budget, operation and project management skills.
- Ability to manage PR agency and maximize their capability and work as a one team
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- BA / BS in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing preferred
- Blend of agency and corporate in-house mix preferred
- Experience running / managing events
