SUMMARY OF ROLE
Rapid Micro Biosystems is looking for an impactful Director of Product Management.  Reporting to our SVP of R&D and Product Management, this leader is responsible for oversight and execution of our product strategy, innovation roadmap, and product lifecycle management. The Director drives the short- and long-term growth strategy as it relates to the positioning and profitability of the company’s products. They will provide visionary leadership to the product management organization who are responsible for bringing the voice of the customer into our organization so that we have an “outside-in” approach to building and delivering the best products and solutions for our markets and customers. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Portfolio Management: Oversee the entire product portfolio, evaluating the performance of existing products, making recommendations for enhancements, updates, or discontinuations as needed to maximize profitability.
·         Voice of Customer Program: Develop and implement a robust VoC program to systematically gather, analyze, and act upon customer feedback. Leverage customer insights to inform product enhancements, feature prioritization, and strategic decisions.
·         Product Planning: Lead the product planning process, from ideation to launch. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Regulatory to ensure new products meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
·         Financial Assessment: Collaborate with finance, operations, and commercial teams to conduct financial assessments of product opportunities, including cost projections, revenue forecasts, demand planning. Provide input on pricing strategies, optimal product mix, and cost optimization efforts.
·         Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitive offerings and benchmark our products against industry rivals. Identify gaps and opportunities to differentiate our products through innovation, technology advancements, and unique value propositions.
·         Go-to-Market Strategy: Develop go-to-market strategies for new product launches. Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams to create compelling messaging, positioning, pricing strategies, and distribution plans.
·         Strategic Vision: Develop and communicate a clear and compelling product strategy aligned with the company's mission and goals.  Define short-term and long-term product roadmaps that reflect market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
·         Talent Leadership: Manage, mentor, and build a world class team of product managers. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
·         Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or Business, MBA preferred.
·         Experience working with complex products and systems in a pharmaceutical, clinical, medical, healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences high growth corporate environment.
·         Must have demonstrated track record of successfully leading product management and development / commercialization of complex products and systems; proven positive impact on P&L.
·         Proven ability to create compelling frameworks to develop and validate product theses based on extensive primary and secondary research.
·         Natural collaborator, ability to influence and inform, lead through opposition, and effectively build strong organizational relationships (internally and externally).
·         Outstanding strategic planning skills.
·         Exceptional communicator: ability to clearly articulate ideas to internal and external audiences.
·         Prior strategy consulting experience highly valued.
·         Ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize constantly.
·         Strong work-ethic with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
·         Excellent critical-thinking skills with ability to structure and solve complex business problems.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
·         Primarily in an office setting with occasional integration in labs and manufacturing.
·         Travel between Lexington and Lowell Offices regularly.
·         Travel is expected to be between 10-30% to customer sites and conferences.
