Technical Support Engineer

Overview

The GSP Engineer provides remote and onsite technical support to Rain Bird Customer in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. The ideal candidate will possess skills in CAD design, Electronics, IT technical support, Irrigation design concepts and practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote technical support to both internal and external customers, distributors, and field personnel.
  • Participate in the 24/7 GSP support program.
  • Configuration of Hardware for Irrigation application.
  • Remote marketing and selling of GSP services.
  • Direct ASP for installation, maintenance, commissioning, or repair projects.
  • Conduct onsite, remotely and classroom training.
  • Travel as necessary, including overnight to meet service requirements at specific customer sites.
  • Support the development and implementation of revenue generating services such as Service Contracts, Data Plans, Weather Station Plans, audits, and spare parts sales.
  • Provide field/technical information to engineering, manufacturing, sales and marketing.
  • Liaise with International GSP support teams.
  • Log, track and follow-up on product and technical issues.
  • Communicate as needed with other Rain Bird functional areas to ensure customer issues are resolved in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Engineering/IT/Agronomy or equivalent, 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical support experience.
  • Experience in AutoCAD design.
  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Process oriented.
  • Knowledge of electronics and Information Systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Irrigation and Golf Central Control programming experience.
  • Golf Course or Landscape experience.
  • Software programming experience.
  • Business Development skills.
