Technical Support Engineer

Tucson, AZ

Overview

The GSP Engineer provides remote and onsite technical support to Rain Bird Customer in the US, Canada and South America. The ideal candidate will possess skills in IT help desk support, Engineering support or Irrigation practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical phone support to customers, distributors, and field personnel
  • Involvement with the roll out of Rain Bird’s latest central control software.
  • Perform PC builds and remote installations of Rain Bird’s latest software.
  • Coordinate with engineering and service departments to develop and ensure that service performance and quality specifications are met.
  • Identify replacement service parts as required.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting or repair of irrigation components, including valves, rotors, electronic controllers flow sensors, and other products
  • Remotely work with on-site technicians as required for installation, maintenance, or repair projects
  • Prepare and conduct training, remotely and in a classroom environment at Rain Bird in Tucson, AZ
  • Support the development and implementation of revenue generating services such as central control programming.
  • Provide field information to engineering, manufacturing, sales, and marketing
  • Track, report, and follow-up on product and technical issues using established escalation processes
  • Participate in the GSP 24 hour on-call phone support rotation

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Engineering/IT/Science/Agronomy or equivalent, 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical support experience.
  • Experience in the Irrigation Industry.
  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Process oriented.
  • Knowledge of electronics and Information Systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Assist in documentation improvement projects to ensure field support personnel have adequate troubleshooting and operation manuals.
  • Willingness to travel on an as needed basis

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Fluency in Spanish or other foreign language(s)
  • Irrigation, golf course service and Golf Central Control programming experience
  • Previous experience with people management and financial controls management
