Join the Pharmacy Core Platform team! As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for administering various application servers, installing applications, working with developers to research and troubleshoot issues, automating tasks via programs and scripts, and performance tuning applications. You will work closely with our vendors, our team's product owners as well as other Pharmacy team product owners to ensure pharmacy applications are performing optimally in our host environments.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead middleware administrators through multiple complex projects from design through implementation
  • Understand multiple technologies and how they are used to enable large scale systems to interact with other large-scale systems.
  • Perform in-depth analysis on all Pharmacy team systems in order to identify performance optimizations and other areas for improvement.
  • Provide leadership for administration of Pharmacy application technology and infrastructure, conveying best practices.
  • Participate in long term solutions for scalability, security, and performance of Pharmacy technology and infrastructure.
  • Lead technical team through problem determination and resolution on highly complex problems.
  • Adapt to a rapidly changing environment, willing to learn new processes and/or technologies quickly.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • 7+ years of experience administering Oracle WebLogic, JBoss or Wildfly application servers.
  • 7+ years of experience administering web servers.
  • 7+ years of experience configuring web server proxies and their connectivity to application servers.
  • 7+ years of experience in UNIX environments with tools and core utilities including shell scripting.
  • 5+ years of experience with deployment tools, such as Ansible and Octopus
  • 5+ years of experience working with applications using Oracle Database
  • 2+ years of experience administering and managing Kafka environments.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation, including researching complex issues, determining root cause, developing workarounds, and communicating issues with our vendors for resolution delivery.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience promoting collaboration and teamwork across enterprise, leading by example, and contributing to the productivity and moral of the team.
  • Solid understanding of the functional and operational practices necessary to operate in a highly available, secure, and regulated environment to meet business, security, and compliance requirements.
  • 9+ years of software engineering experience
  • 9+ years of experience administering Oracle WebLogic, JBoss or Wildfly application servers.
  • Experience with Java development
  • Experience with SQL Server
  • Experience using the WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST)
  • Experience administering Spring Boot applications.
  • Additional tools/technology experience: Splunk, Docker, Kubernetes

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month's extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
