Web Producer (AET, part-time)

POLITICO is looking for producers to support our digital publishing on Australian Eastern Time.

The role ensures that our European politics and policy newsletters are accurate and engaging and hit readers' inboxes on time. You'll publish content, enhance stories with powerful photos and infographics and help to beat the competition by breaking news via alerts and social media.

You'll work a regular four-hour afternoon shift, Monday to Friday AET. This is a remote-working position under an independent contractor status.

POLITICO is a growing media company that covers politics, policy and personalities in Europe and Washington. The role would suit a student or recent graduate looking to gain experience with an international newsroom.

What You'll Do:

  • Copy-edit and publish daily newsletters, both for paying subscribers and our free-to-read Playbook products.
  • Edit placement on the homepage to ensure content is displayed correctly and attractively for readers waking up in Europe.
  • Prepare articles, alerts and newsletters for publication, ensuring each piece of content is of the highest possible quality.
  • Promote stories on social media, sharing engaging posts to drive traffic and build a following.
  • Data entry to update our Poll of Polls election tracker and live election results as required.

What You'll Need:

  • A proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Acute attention to detail and accuracy, as well as enthusiasm to be a team player.
  • Availability to work flexible hours on request to meet publishing needs.
  • Experience with HTML or content management systems preferred.
  • Graphic design, digital photo editing and/or experience with data visualization tools preferred.
  • Working knowledge of EU and/or national European politics and policy is a plus.
