Senior Tax Manager
Position Overview

As a Senior Tax Accounting Manager within PNC's Finance organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA and work in The Tower at PNC Plaza. You will lead PNC's global income tax provisioning process ensuring the accuracy of reported results and provide expertise in all financial statement and regulatory reporting matters. The Senior Tax Accounting Manager reports to the Tax Director and is a member of the Tax Leadership Committee.
Responsibilities:
• Coordination, review and/or calculation of income tax provision accrual and analysis, including effective income tax rate, deferred income tax and income tax reserves for US GAAP income tax reporting.
• Keep current on ASC 740 developments and new accounting pronouncements, determine their impact on the company, and communicate conclusions to leadership.
• Identify and mitigate tax reporting risks related to federal, state, and international legislative developments.
• Coordination and review of the income tax portion of the regulatory reporting process including projections of income tax expense and deferred income tax for Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Dodd Frank Stress Test (DFAST) filings.
• Deferred income tax calculations for quarterly bank Call Reports.
• Research and interpret regulatory reporting regulations and pronouncements.
• Oversight and review of tax account reconciliations and substantiation of tax income statement and balance sheet accounts.
• Income tax calculations associated with separate company audits.
• Implement processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting while enhancing efficiency and mitigating tax risk.
• Support special projects as needed by tax management.
• Communicate tax matters in a clear and concise manner with various audiences to facilitate understanding of applicable transactions.
• Work closely with the Tax Compliance group to ensure proper reporting and integration of the tax provision and compliance processes.
• Direct coordination and interaction with internal and external auditors.
• Develop and mentor staff to grow tax expertise and strengthen abilities in assigned roles.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree required; CPA, MST, or MBA preferred.
• 8+ years US GAAP accounting/tax accounting experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or a related field; financial services a plus.
• Deep understanding of ASC 740, US and international income tax accounting, and tax compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to meet internal and external deadlines and accurately and timely deliver reported results.
• Strong decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

• Strong computer skills, including Excel and tax software; OneSource experience a plus.
Job Description
- Manages and/or oversees a variety of tax services, including organizational tax reporting, tax planning, tax strategies, or compliance functions, depending on relative role requirements.
- Manages the completion of accurate tax returns to minimize risk and manage the tax obligations of the organization. Utilizes all available information to ensure filing obligations are appropriately met. May also review the completion of tax accounting entries or related financial statement disclosures and account reconciliations.
- Manages technical tax areas and associated risks.
- Coordinates, facilitates and resolves all taxing authority inquiries and audits.
- Coaches and mentors staff to grow tax expertise and overall abilities in assigned roles. Demonstrates strong tax technical expertise across a range of tax matters. Keeps up-to-date with and advises others of organization-related tax regulations at the federal, state and local levels.

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry experience is typically 8+ years. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
