We are seeking a dynamiccandidate with extensive experience in generation operations to join our growing team and lead our efforts in managing theevolving resource mix.As an Engineer on the team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operation and maintenance of the power generationfacilities in PJM's footprint. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency of ourpower generators. The Generation Department personnel are considered to be PJM's subject matter experts in a variety ofbusiness functions including generation activities, support for generator operational data requirements, resolution ofoperational issues, generation outage planning and reporting, generation performance monitoring, gas-electric coordination,generation related ancillary market support including black start services, and generator compliance issues. You will have theopportunity to engage in all the aforementioned areas in addition to cross-divisional efforts that the team is often involved in.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage generator outage request process, and monitoring of reserve margins.
  • • Identification and reporting of generation performance, including development of internal generator performance tools; outreach with generation resource owners as needed to resolve issues.
  • • Continuous enhancement of PJM outage processing tool to maximize outage coordination and reporting.
  • • Obtain and maintain generator data for various databases and applications, including administration of generator owner data surveys and seasonal fuel inventory surveys.
  • • Maintain applicable PJM manuals and support NERC Standards development and compliance activities as required.
  • • Support for Generation Department initiatives with PJM stakeholder groups, including presentations.
  • • Develop solutions to complex challenges in the generation space such as the ongoing energy transition
Characteristics and Qualifications:
Required:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with generation operations
  • At least 5 years of work experience
  • Experience/interest in power industry, specifically generator operations
  • Understanding of bulk electric system
  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Experience using verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)
  • Ability to understand business needs, while establishing and maintaining a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Experience with the basic principles and theory of electricity and interconnected system operations
  • Ability to possess interpersonal skills with a work behavior that exhibits energy, drive, and motivation

Preferred:

  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
  • Experience supporting any of PJM Committees
  • Experience in the Generation and Transmission functions
  • Ability to solve problems that proactively address customer needs and requirements with innovative, creative, and cost-
  • effective solutions
  • Experience with renewable energy resources and associated technology
