Overview

The Merchant Risk Manager, based out of our Jacksonville, Florida office, is an integral part of Paysafe's Merchant Risk Operations team. You will be responsible oversight of the Merchant Risk Supervisor and analyst team. You will aggressively monitor and the team to adequately mitigate loss through effective decisions and optimize rules and processes to ensure efficient use of risk resources. You will play a critical role in moving to a sophisticated system approach on a common risk platform and standardize our risk process across the Payment Processing business. The ideal candidate should have an advanced understanding of common risk trends, chargebacks, and understand review of financial records, such as invoices, balance sheets and bank statements. You will be a point of contact for escalations which may require interaction with Executive Leadership, Independent Sales Offices and their agents and merchants, requiring professionalism and the ability to stay calm to provide a world class experience to our internal and external customers. You will also assist in managing relationships with 3rd party vendors in this role using your expertise to enhance current and / or assist in identifying potential new relationships that may improve our risk monitoring capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Merchant Risk Supervisor and his / her team of Merchant Risk Investigators; to include training, coaching and performance management;
  • Collaborate with peers and leadership to implement system / process improvements in effort to streamline and optimize the merchant risk function;
  • Identify gaps in processes, opportunities for improvement and assist in the development, training, and implementation
  • Aggressively observe performance of the risk team with the purpose of meeting our annual risk objectives:
  • Monitor and analyze daily merchant activity to detect irregular patterns in transaction activity and initiate appropriate adverse action to mitigate loss;
  • Investigate high risk or suspicious transaction activity with merchants, issuing banks, and cardholders to determine the proper action;
  • Conduct merchant transaction, volume and chargeback activity review and analysis
  • Delegate responsibility for complex and extensive investigations;
  • Initiate funding holds/releases within authority levels and investigate any potential losses as appropriate;
  • Educate merchants on proper card acceptance and fraud prevention best practices;
  • Analyze performance of risk alert and losses to statistically recommend the appropriate alerts and parameters for the Risk Monitoring System
  • Assist with projects and training as needed
  • Act as an escalation point to communicate with Executives, our Legal Department, merchants and sales offices where needed to assist;
  • Compile card brand and other reporting as required to comply with Paysafe and sponsor bank requirements;
  • Act as a liaison with sponsor banks for investigations and chargeback program management;
  • Must be comfortable performing reviews on accounts and websites that may contain sensitive content;

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field of study or relevant experience in lieu of the degree
  • At least 2 years of leading a team of risk analysts to include coaching and development;
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in risk, credit underwriting or dispute/chargeback resolution or collections in Acquiring / Bankcard payments;
  • High level ability to calculate potential losses and exposure and articulate findings to both management and merchant;
  • Knowledge of various card brand (VI, MC, AX, DI) rules and regulations;
  • Strong experience with risk systems including: Aperia, First Data/Fiserv, TSYS, eConnections, Real Time Fraud, AccessOne, and/or CBOS;
  • Demonstrate advanced ability to perform day-to-day fraud investigation and risk activities for merchant accounts;
  • A self- starter that requires minimal supervision;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills;
  • Ability and willingness to take escalated cases and/or merchant calls, when required
  • A solid sense of ownership and accountability;
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, navigating the web for resources;
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make real time, informed decisions;
  • Ability to work in team driven environment yet work independently to complete daily expectations and deadlines
  • Possess a professional and courteous demeanor.
