Purpose and Job Summary:
The position is a senior member of a 14-person private credit team investing in high yield real estate, infrastructure and public finance opportunities. The Senior Director manages the transaction structuring needs of the investment team and leads work-out situations if they arise. Ideal candidates possess a background in real estate, development and construction financing as well as workouts. The position is in Dallas or New York and reports to the head of the investment team. A hybrid work schedule requires 3 to 4 days in the office per week. This is an opportunity for career growth in asset management and investing, using the candidate's legal background to make an immediate impact while learning new skills in a highly collaborative group. Candidates should possess a desire to build an understanding of credit underwriting, deal origination, and bond trading.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to manage all aspects of private credit transaction structuring, from due diligence through closing and post-closing matters.
Advise on and implement private credit transaction structures. Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks related to existing holdings and new transactions, advising senior leadership on strategies.
Negotiate credit terms and structures with external clients and counterparties.
Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide variety of real estate financing transaction documentation, including (i) loan agreements and bond indentures, (ii) guaranty agreements (payment, construction completion and "bad acts"), (iii) purchase agreements in connection with developer reimbursement financings, (iv) title and survey related documentation, and (v) ancillary loan-related documentation (security agreements, intercreditor agreements, etc.).
Manage workouts of distressed assets in collaboration with external counsel and internal Risk team.
Communicate with investment committees and senior leadership.
Work closely with internal Legal team.

Education, Skills and Experience:
Required:
Solutions-oriented person with the ability to problem solve and think creatively.
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
Minimum 7 years of overall experience, with a minimum of 4 years of experience as an attorney in an Am Law 500 law firm strongly preferred.
In-depth experience leading real estate development/construction financings.
Preferred:
Prior workout experience strongly preferred.
Experience with land-secured municipal bonds and special district financings strongly preferred.
