Senior Electrical Controls Engineer

Anoka, MN

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Partner with Engineering Project Leads and Product Management to develop and design electrical and control systems in new and existing products to drive customer value.
  • Advance current product technology and controls to enable products for use in IoT applications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams that launch products by taking market specifications from design to prototype to production. This can also cover both branded platform products and products engineered for specific customer application.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing to partner with customers, engage in industry partnership, and establish other relationships enabling us to advance our product and technology reach
  • Lead and manage electrical/software engineer(s) by providing work direction to work teams to maximize productivity, effectiveness and teamwork
  • Promote knowledge sharing to strengthen technical depth of staff, ensure responsive operational support, and enable process improvements

TRANSLATE CUSTOMER NEEDS INTO PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Coordinate and maintain development schedules
  • Establish test specifications and protocols and supervise prototyping and testing
  • Direct outside activities such as regulatory or other third party testing


ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCT ROADMAPS:
  • Lead projects of significant complexity and financial impact
  • Foster a collaborative team environment with open communication, identifying problems and establishing resolutions


YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Several years of relevant engineering experience


SOFTWARE AND FIRMWARE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated knowledge in electrical & electronics engineering and control systems integrated into product development as embedded controls platforms
  • Ability to specify, develop, maintain and manage the deployment of the control platform including panel designs, equipment selection programming, HMI system integration, sequence of control development, programming, testing and commissioning.


TECHNICAL DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE IN:
  • Researching, analyzing and making recommendations related to complex applications
  • Safety codes, standards, practices and rules to ensure safety of employees, public and equipment
  • Development and layout of Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Sensor and signal monitoring protocols such as -1 to 5V, 0 to 5V, 0 to 20mA, 4-20mA, TTL, Relay in/out, digital input
  • Use and application of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations at all levels within the organization and to customers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects along with the ability to work in a fast paced team environment in a self-directed manner
