BUSINESS SEGMENT OVERVIEW

Designers and installers of electrical systems rely on nVent for industry-proven, globally compliant fastening and facility electrical protection systems. nVent's electrical and fastening solutions are comprised of superior engineered products for niche electrical, mechanical and concrete applications.

nVent ERICO offers components for electrical protection, rail and transit connectivity, telecom installation, and utility and industrial facility electrical installation systems. The nVent CADDY brand includes fixing, fastening and support products for electrical installation, seismic and fire protection, data communications and heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. We also offer nVent ERIFLEX low-voltage, space-saving power and grounding connections for electrical panels and nVent LENTON engineered products for concrete reinforcing steel connections.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to Tool Room Manager, this position will develop die layouts, flat blanks, strip layouts and any other information necessary to support CADDY New Product Development (NPD), Application Engineering (AE), and existing manufacturing in the nVent CADDY ECN Press Room. This will be in support of new tooling builds, andbuilds and will also include working with Tool Room personnel to help maintain and improve our fleet of over 500 existing progressive dies for the CADDY brand of fasteners, and work effectively with outside tooling suppliers.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Use Solidworks 3D and AutoCAD 2D to develop die layouts, flat blanks, strip layouts for the ECN Press Room.
  • Work with Tool Room personnel to help maintain and improve existing progressive dies.
  • Work with outside tooling suppliers to ensure compliance with CADDY Die Specifications.
  • Reverse engineer and create drawings for existing tooling.
  • Working with NPD and AE personnel, dDesign, develop, and manufacture new tooling and fixtures needed for prototypes and new part fabrication.
  • Work with NPDProduct Development, AEpplications Engineering, and Tool Room personnel to provide feedback on manufacturability of concepts and lead time estimates.
  • Order raw materials and consumables for tooling and fixtures.
  • Understand and effectively appliesapply standard drafting practices.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Proven experience and knowledge in progressive die mechanical/ industrial design and strip layout(?).
  • Extensive kKnowledge of drafting standards and metal stamping processes
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Solidworks 3D modeling software and AutoCAD 2D
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite (Excel, Word), general computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings
  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships across functional areas
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances/priorities
  • Ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment
  • Good communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or G.E.D required
  • Journeyman Tool & Die with progressive stamping die experience, knowledge repairing, trouble- shooting existing dies, and new die builds for spring steel, pre galvanized, stainless and plain mild steel materials ranging from 0.025" - 0.375" thick
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with good problem- solving skills
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication - progressive die tooling experience required
