Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively observe the battle develop, and dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that provides an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC serves as a force multiplier both globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise the capabilities of all current and future missile defense systems.
C2BMC is a dynamic and exciting program in the Missile Defense and Space mission areas. C2BMC has a long history of providing solutions to the Missile Defense Agency and continues to be contracted to deliver innovative solutions for both missions. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work across C2BMC in both Missile Defense and Space. They will be part of an integrated architecture and systems engineering team on a multi-company teammate program, responsible for defining the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture necessary to articulate the vision and desired capabilities of an evolving C2BMC effort. The candidate will join a team that is architecting missile defense command and control and battle management systems, utilizing existing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and government off-the-shelf (GOTS) components while ensuring DoD interoperability.
Essential Functions:

Analyzing overarching needs by using a structured and logical approach
The candidate will be responsible for developing System Architecture solutions and concepts for various new and emerging capabilities of the C2BMC system, in collaboration with other architects, including the lead Systems Architect, software architects, network architects, cyber architects, and others
Communicates and collaborates on system architecture solutions with various teams, including software developers, network engineers, cyber engineers, DevSecOps, infrastructure, test, and deployment teams
This encompasses both physical and logical architecture throughout the System
Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with project leads, product owners, and the MDA customer
The candidate will present architectural concepts to a diverse range of audiences and serve as the focal point for System Architecture, supporting development, testing, and deployment efforts
The candidate will present internal and external design reviews
Candidates may help document or review architecture using an MBSE tool like CAMEO
Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies and design methodologies in the realm of DoD Command and Control, as well as COTS/FOSS information technology products
Familiarity with private cloud solutions and IT technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, Red Hat, and network solutions
Familiarity with DoD cyber requirements, RMF, and related solutions
Familiarity with software development and Java-based solutions
Familiarity with DevSecOps and Digital Engineering Transformation (DET) methodologies and solutions
Familiarity with Agile development
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and the Cameo tool
Familiarity with requirements management tools, e.g., DOORS
Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline is preferred from an accredited university, along with 8 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a Master's degree (preferred) in a related STEM field and 6 years of experience, or a PhD in a related discipline with 4 years of experience is acceptable
Applicants must possess an active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is necessary to start
Must possess Systems Engineering, Architecture, and/or Test experience on a DoD program
Must possess a desire to become a Systems Architect on a complex Command and Control DoD Program
Must have excellent communication skills and be capable of presenting technical concepts to a diverse group of engineers
Must have a minimum of two of the following skillsets:
C2BMC or similar complex DoD Command and Control (C2) System experience of over 2 years
Experience in developing new system architecture concepts and solutions
Experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, software, and network-related work as part of an integrated team collaborating with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions for a DoD program
Experience as a Technical Lead, Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert, or technical leader in Systems Engineering within the Missile Defense, Space, or Link 16 domain

Engage in analyzing high-level needs using a structured and logical approach
Responsible for creating system architecture solutions and concepts for various new and emerging capabilities for the C2BMC system in collaboration with other architects, including the lead systems architect, software architects, network architect, cyber architect, and others
Communicates and collaborates on system architecture solutions with other teams, including:
Software developers
Network engineers
Cyber engineers
DevSecOps teams
Infrastructure teams
Test teams
Deployment teams

The position encompasses both physical architecture and logical architecture throughout the System
Engage with project leads, product owners, and the MDA customer
Present architectural concepts to diverse audiences and serve as the focal point for System Architecture related to the Capability for development, testing, and deployment efforts
Present at internal and external design reviews
Assist with documenting or reviewing architectures in an MBSE tool, such as CAMEO
Stays informed about current and emerging technologies and design methodologies in the field of DoD Command and Control and COTS/FOSS information technology products
Experience working within a team that designed systems in an environment utilizing existing or COTS/GOTS components while considering DoD interoperability
Experience in collaborating within an integrated team of systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
Experience in identifying desired capabilities, defining those capabilities, communicating them to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users, and generating architectural artifacts to document and manage the achievement of the desired capabilities
Experience in developing systems engineering and architecture artifacts (e.g., Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.)
Experience in creating briefings, reviewing architecture designs and artifacts, and presenting at DoD Customer Design Reviews
Experience as a technical leader in a DoD Systems Engineering or Development project
Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in a related STEM field and 6 years of experience is highly preferred
Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)

Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
