Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Research & Advanced Design Division is seeking a Program Director 1 to lead, manage and execute a new, complex priority capture development effort in El Segundo, California. This role will report directly to the ACP Operating Unit Director.
This position directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of the programs for both internal investments and customer contracts. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Acts as primary contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications. Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas. Additionally, this role will support the larger capture efforts associated with this program.

The successful candidate will be a senior leader who has run large DoD programs and who has demonstrated experience with the Department of Defense's acquisition process and within the Pentagon. The ideal candidate will focus on being a servant-leader whose main goal will be standing up a program team to pursue this capture. 25% travel should be expected.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provides direction in the creation of new program offerings to meet emerging customer requirements.

In support of Northrop Grumman, interfaces and represents the company with senior military and government officials and with industry both in the U.S. and globally.

Develops program plan and roadmaps to align with internal strategy and customer needs

Provides seamless support to ACP integrated program team, determining what capability would be applicable for the effort

Duties include key elements of program management, strategy and business development, customer engagement, financial management and contract oversight and organizational/people management.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer, Math) discipline, plus minimum of 10 years of management experience inclusive of program cost, schedule, and technical performance management or Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer, Math) discipline, with minimum of 8 years of management experience inclusive of program cost, schedule, and technical performance management

At least 5 years of experience with DoD requirements and acquisition processes and programs

Demonstrated success in leading large, complex businesses and organizations

Active DoD Secret clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable time required by business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong organizational, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with senior Government and military officials and senior executives within industry

Ability to make and manage change decisions that impact the organization's structure, processes, operations, and services

Knowledge of Northrop Grumman internal processes, procedures, and organization

Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering

Technical experience across design, manufacturing, and testing hardware and software

Active DoD Top Secret and SCI clearance

Salary Range: $217,300.00 - $325,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
