Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principal Avionics Responsible Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
The Flight Avionics Engineer in this role will be responsible for supporting all aspects of informal and formal Equipment and System level Design, Supplier Management, Integration, Assembly, Test and Checkout (IACO) for the Precision Approach and Landing Capability (PALC) subsystem. Tasks shall include but not limited to:

Supplier management to include: Conducting SMT technical meetings with the supplier, review and approval of supplier developed design documentation, management of supplier design implementation and requirements verification, review and approval of supplier verification testing procedures and reports, tracking and resolution of supplier action items, etc.
Technical Risk and Opportunity management
Functional integration design of the subsystem
Bench test design, procedures and checkout
Box/Equipment/Subsystem level testing including procedure development and review and verification of supplier reports and documentation
Supporting the System Test and Integration Team integration of subsystem to the System Integration Lab (SIL)
Systems integration troubleshooting of aircraft and mission system avionics components and subsystems.
Developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) from Supplier provided design details to provide wiring information to Systems Integration Test & Evaluation (SIT&E) for lab installation. The ICDs are also verified during bench and system integration testing.
Verifying Interface Design Definition (IDD) documentation is correct during box level and integration testing.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Avionics Responsible Engineer: T03
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience OR Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience OR PhD and 1 year of experience
Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years.
Supplier management experience for avionics subsystems.
Integration and/or Design experience with avionics systems as applied to military aircraft.
Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody, etc.), developing/maturing requirements, and tracing requirements through various levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
Integration and/or Design experience with avionics systems relative to precision approach and landing in a carrier environment.
Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and Ethernet communication protocols
Experience with Serial communication protocols
Experience Leading a team and/or project involving cross collaboration with other disciplines internally and external vendors and stakeholders
Experience with Shipboard Inertial Navigation Systems (SINS)
Integration of avionics systems with Flight Management Computer (FMC) hardware.
* Platform relevant experience or aircraft integration experience
Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
