Member Research Strategist II

Overview

To provide expert research project management and strategic primary research guidance to internal business partners. To act as the voice of the member (and potential member), while providing assistance to business partners who make decisions about Navy Federal's strategy and operations. Complete moderately complex/varied tasks of moderate latitude requiring basic research and moderate analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute custom quantitative research projects for internal clients across a wide variety of financial topics (brand, credit card, mortgage, consumer loan etc.): these projects will vary not only by topics, but also by methodology (IDIs, online focus groups, online surveys, etc.) and project type (CSAT/CX, concept testing, product optimization, segmentation, etc.)
  • Anticipate research support needs and strategy planning to business partners to help in their decision making process to solve business issues, meet project objectives and/or strategic initiatives
  • Responsible for executing, analyzing, and providing actionable insights through research to ensure business goals are met while all projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Manage custom quantitative and qualitative market research projects with increasingly less supervision required over time
  • Write detailed proposals that cover the key objectives, recommended approach (and why), main deliverables/outputs, timing and budget
  • Develop research instruments, e.g., screeners, questionnaires, and moderator guides etc., with a clear sense of what the data will look like on the backend and how best to report them
  • Program and send out surveys using Qualtrics
  • Test survey programming logic to ensure research participants receive appropriate questions based on their responses
  • Manage respondent recruitment and oversee fieldwork
  • Proof questionnaires, discussion guides, data files, data tables, reports and other deliverables as needed
  • Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to uncover insights
  • Partner with team members and research vendors to develop reports in PowerPoint
  • Generate analysis and report specifications, e.g., banner points and associated statistical testing for data crosstabulations
  • Create PPT reports with an emphasis on storytelling
  • Interact regularly with internal clients and partners

Qualifications

  • Have 3-5+ years of experience at a market research supplier (or a very hands-on corporate research department), with prior experience in most (ideally all) of the responsibilities described above
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, manage, and effectively deliver on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Basic understanding of research methodologies from sampling through advanced analytics like MaxDiff
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with statistical packages like SPSS, and/or Excel
  • Experience in programming and analyzing surveys in Qualtrics
  • Strong experience in quantitative research, coupled either with qualitative experience, or an interest in developing skills in qualitative research
  • Highly curious, open-minded, flexible, a quick learner, comfortable asking questions, and has strong problem solving skills
  • Extremely strong attention to detail and highly accurate proofing skills; self-motivated to ensure work is completed correctly
  • Experienced with PowerPoint - able to quickly and accurately create visually appealing charts from data tabulations
  • Strong experience with Excel (e.g., pivot tables, xlookups, macros) and a desire to learn more
  • Highly organized - practices active listening, note-taking, and documentation of work processes
  • Able to work effectively independently, as well as when partnering with team members
  • Able to multi-task and deliver reports on time
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to create an appropriate strawman report with limited direction
  • Ability to write accurate and insightful text for reports
  • Experience running data tabulations (or interest in learning)
  • Experience with any potentially relevant software/platforms (e.g., SPSS, Q, DisplayR, R, Power BI, Decipher, Access, SQL, Python, Qualtrics, WinCross)
  • Familiarity with statistical analyses (e.g., correlations, regression, Discrete Choice, Max-Diff)
  • Prior experience with conducting in-depth interviews (IDIs), leading online discussion forums (bulletin boards), and/or moderating focus groups
  • Knowledge of Navy Federal operations
  • Familiarity with the military community
