Nationwide Private Client is looking for a proven leader to join our Accounting team. The Accounting department is responsible for collecting premium payments, reconciling billing accounts, processing commission payments to agency partners and other premium-related tasks.

This role reports to the Director, Sales Operations – Affluent and can be filled in our Scottsdale, AZ office or remotely (work from home).

As a Supervisor, you'll lead, plan and organize the work of associates within multiple locations, multiple functions and units performing complex work. We'll count on you to develop, coach, train and mentor team members. You'll analyze the development of new policies/procedures, make recommendations and work closely with unit management to implement changes to existing work policies and procedures.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, coordinates and provides leadership to team. Ensures all sophisticated processing and customer service needs are addressed and resolved in a timely manner and within standards/guidelines. Interacts with others as necessary to achieve objectives.

  • Assigns work, monitors, evaluates, recommends and implements changes/improvements to existing processing procedures. Establishes standards, specifications, methods and recommends equipment usage as requested/assigned.

  • Supervises the resolution of highly complex problems in technical, system or production aspects of the section/team responsibilities. Maintains status and provides management with updated reports as required.

  • Leads task or project teams as assigned and provides recommendations. Keeps management updated regarding status as requested. Implements and monitors progress of final determination. Conducts regular follow-up to track the effectiveness of the implemented changes.

  • Initiates analysis to study system changes applicable to unit and its functions. Analyzes recommendations for updating systems/software for unit(s). Makes recommendations and ensures follow up on system/software updates.

  • Assists departmental management in the development of budget and is accountable for performance against individual unit/team budget. Analyzes data that may impact overall operating results.

  • Analyzes the need for training in specific subjects within unit. Uses team input to design and recommend training program for the unit.

  • Prepares and administers performance evaluations and salary activity. Functions as first level of communication regarding production and/or associate related situations.  

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.  

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director and supervises team of professionals. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies and/or studies toward related insurance designation preferred.

Experience: Seven years of experience in related field; five years of experience with undergraduate studies.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of applicable processing systems and procedures. Strong customer service philosophy and in-depth knowledge of related products. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to analyze problem situations, make recommendations and coordinate implementation/resolution activities. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations. Ability to lead, train and counsel employees in all aspects of business activities. 


Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. 
 

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Non-standard or extended work hours and some travel as needed.
