As a Commissions Manager, you’ll be responsible for the functions, activities and staff associated with the commissions department. You’ll monitor commission and/or sales incentive levels against plan and developing forecasts. You’ll have opportunities to partners with sales management to resolve complex commissions/sales incentive problems. In addition, you’ll assist in the commissions/sales incentive plan design process. It also will be important for you to model plans against actual and forecast projections.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures commission or sales incentive payments have been properly processed.

  • Responds to escalated calls from the sales force regarding complex commission or sales incentive-related processing problems.

  • Prepares monthly/quarterly commission and sales incentive payment summary reports for management. Consults with management regarding trends and forecast projections.

  • Develops and implements commission/incentive processing policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for the completion of commission or sales incentive audits. Summarizes audit findings and conclusions; consults with sales management audit issues.

  • Assists in designing and modeling commission and sales incentive plans. Partners with sales management to provide cost impact solutions and/or opportunities related to commission/incentive designs.

  • Develops and implements process improvements. Identifies payment processing system enhancements.

  • Participates in and leads other commission and sales incentive projects as needed.

  • Manages associates including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director/Executive. Direct reports include commissions professionals and support staff.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.

Experience: Eight years of work experience in commissions and/or sales incentive administration, financial services or related field; including management supervision experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven knowledge of commission and/or sales incentive payment processes. Understands commission/sales incentive plan designs (i.e. targets, measures, etc.). Understands staff/team coaching and development techniques.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with sales management to make appropriate recommendations. Strong analytical ability to research and evaluate complex payment process issues and financial information. Decision making skills for problem identification and selection of alternatives. Strong organization and planning skills to set priorities, and to plan work. Ability to formulate business questions/problems into analytical questions and conduct analyses. Proven ability to manage and develop direct reports, projects and team members. Ability to effectively operate personal computer and multiple database and business software.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager's leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
