Institutional Securities_ Technology Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. IST's 'clients' include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, Prime Brokerage and Global Capital Markets. Reliability & Production Engineering (RPE) Resiliency Engineering is a production-oriented discipline focused on improving service availability, latency, scalability, performance, and efficiency for technology products in Morgan Stanley. Our core infrastructure processes hundreds of millions of transactions and we serve assets of more than a trillion dollars daily. This role will be responsible for the design & implementation of the platform, and corresponding frameworks, application and gameday exercises, for testing critical applications at scale. This includes proactive system monitoring, incident management, problem resolution, and handling user escalations. • Managing incident calls with our technology partners and business stakeholders. • Working closely with development teams to design, build, and maintain systems. • Proactively identifying and addressing systems reliability risks. • Working alongside existing global and regional team members on a follow-the-sun basis. • Identifying areas for improvement including automation, toil reduction, resiliency, and observability. • Representing the RPE organization in design reviews and operational readiness exercises for new and existing products. What you'll bring to the role: • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems and debug to identify root cause. • Awareness of, and ability to reason about modern software and systems architectures, including load-balancing, databases, queueing, caching, distributed systems failure modes, micro services, Cloud, etc. • Experience with Ansible, GitHub or any automation/configuration/release management tools. • Exposure to modern Observability Tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible etc. • Practical experience running large scale systems. • Automation-related experience using scripting languages such as python, bash, perl, ruby. One higher level language is desired. • Knowledge of ITIL Principles, SDLC, and Agile development is desired.
