The Global Fixed Income team within MSIM has team members located in New York, London, Tokyo and Singapore managing Fixed Income portfolios for a broad range of clients.

The London-based group of the Fixed Income team works closely with their Global colleagues to manage the risk for European-based portfolios, generates ideas for Global portfolios, and works with the other functions within MSIM to provide high quality, professional support both to internal and external clients. There is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to join the Fixed Income team to support all areas of the business.

The internship will commence in July 2024 and typically lasts six months. This internship will offer you an exciting and a dynamic work environment where you get to work alongside our diverse group of experienced professionals. The work that you do will be interesting and varied.

TRAINING PROGRAM

You will receive on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is designed to provide support to the team's investors and the Portfolio Specialist team in particular, but also the Global Fixed Income team more generally. The key areas of focus will be to support the investment teams with the development of a quantitative asset allocation frameworks; and support the Portfolio Specialist team in the automation of creating client reporting, marketing and requests for proposals (RFPs) documents, and answering general client requests. The role will also require identifying opportunities for further improvements in the investment process through the development and maintenance of quantitative investment tools and analysis, and generally support the day-to-day activities of the fixed income team.

The successful candidate will have the scope to add value to a growing team, and the opportunity to grow his/her investment and finance knowledge significantly by sitting at the heart of an experienced and diverse global investment team.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS
  • You have graduated from university or able to take the time off to commit for a full time internship role for six if you are currently in study and have a strong interest in finance
  • You are fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. An ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages would be an advantage
  • You have a strong foundation in finance and quantitative skills, evidenced by a relevant degree, appropriate industry qualification and/or relevant work experience.
  • You have superior attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality output.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to present the conclusions of your analysis in a clear and well-structured manner.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a team player
  • A high degree of self-motivation, intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit
  • An ability to work and think independently, and to operate successfully within a team-based approach
  • Knowledge and confident use of appropriate programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C++).
