Arizona Fall League - Communications Coordinator

The Arizona Fall League is seeking a Communications Coordinator for the upcoming 2024 season (mid-August through the end of November). The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with advanced knowledge of baseball and the media landscape who will proactively work to build and enhance the image of the Arizona Fall League. This individual will serve as the liaison between the media and the AFL for all league-related public relations, including baseball information, interview requests, credentialing, and the production of daily game information. The position will work in tandem with multiple departments and play a critical role in all internal and external communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearheads all baseball information efforts, including game notes, press releases, and media guides.
  • Oversees all statistical information.
  • Creates and maintains positive relationships with members of the media who cover the Arizona Fall League.     
  • Oversees media availability for AFL players and coaches.
  • Supports press box logistics during games.
  • Leads annual media day event.
  • Supports MLB Network with live game telecasts.
  • Manages all media credential requests.
  • Produces the AFL newsletter.
  • Supports game streaming initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous communications experience with an MLB or MiLB organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate on organizational initiatives.
  • Mindfulness, especially as it relates to editing and proofreading written materials.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Social Media experience
  • Strong core computer skills (Word, MS Office, Excel).
  • Working knowledge of Baseball-Reference and other statistical websites.
  • Experience working with Adobe InDesign, especially as it relates to creating and editing media guide files and game notes.

Compensation:

  • Bi-weekly stipend
  • Travel/housing allowance for out of state hires
  • Hires are responsible for securing housing and transportation.
