Meta's Safety Policy team works with external stakeholders and internal teams across Meta to understand the relationship between our platform and the safety and well-being of teens on our platform, and to support the safety and well-being of our broad global community through our policies, tools, resources, and partnerships.We are looking for a Safety Policy Manager with subject matter expertise in child development and teen mental health and work experience in the tech sector to support and drive our approach to youth safety and well-being on our services.This individual would work on these issues across our policies, technology, and resources, as well as through engagement with external experts and leading organizations that specialize In areas ranging from suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders to healthy tech habits.This role would focus on the intersection of online technology, child development and teen mental health issues. This individual will be responsible for bringing subject matter expertise from their own clinical and/or academic experience and engagement with experts and expert organizations to our product, operations, and policy work. The work will include issue spotting, including new and emerging issues, driving safety policy team investigations, evaluations, and responses, collaborative problem solving with internal partners, and working with experts, external organizations, civil society, policy stakeholders, and other members of industry to advance the safety and well-being of youth on our platform. In addition to possessing a focus and expertise in teen development and mental health and work experience in the tech sector, the ideal candidate will be a constant learner, skilled at prioritizing and problem-solving with limited oversight, well-organized, good at navigating ambiguity, expert in juggling multiple tasks/timelines at once in a fast paced environment, and passionate about the subject matter, the services we provide, and the people who we serve. This person should be a skilled communicator who excels at working collaboratively and effectively within highly cross-functional global teams and consistently delivers high-quality work under pressure. Candidates should be dedicated, detail oriented, creative, resourceful, analytical, an expert in their field, and have proven communication and presenting skills. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record meeting high expectations under quick deadlines and prepared to lead and execute to get work done well and fast.

Safety Policy Manager, Youth Well-Being Responsibilities:
- Responsible for understanding the external landscape around youth online safety and well-being, including regulatory, technology, and industry-wide developments worldwide.
- Responsible for understanding the global landscape of academics, civil society, advocates, organizations and other stakeholders focused on teen development and youth well-being online.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, to monitor, respond to and stay ahead of youth online safety and well-being issues.
- Develop frameworks to proactively identify online risks related to your area of expertise and develop mitigation strategies, as well as effectively communicate said strategies to cross-functional partners.
- Work with internal and external expert stakeholders to inform content and product policies, tools, operational responses, programs, and resources.
- Advise and support Meta teams working on youth safety and well-being public policy, content and product policies, tools, operational responses, programs, and resources.
- Work with Meta's policy, operations, product, integrity and program teams to support those using our platforms to safely build connections and communities.
- Represent Meta in meetings with policymakers and key safety policy stakeholders.
- Handle calls outside normal business hours to accommodate different time zones
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally
- 10+ years of experience in public policy, youth safety and well-being
- Demonstrated experience to think and move quickly, produce results under tight deadlines, juggle many different projects at once, find pragmatic and innovative solutions to business issues, provide concise and business-focused advice, and make sound judgments
- Experience working cross-functionally with numerous teams across public affairs, legal, operations, programs and product
- Experience with consensus-building
- Experience operating independently
- Experience working with policy stakeholders and policymakers and representing companies at the ministerial-level
- Experience working in a rapidly growing and fast paced environment
- Demonstrated analytical skills, communication skills and work ethic
- Detail oriented
- Advanced degree in child development and/or mental health related field
- Experience working in a corporate environment with technology companies on policy development and/or enforcement
