Meta's Network and Infrastructure Services (NIS) team is actively looking for a passionate network engineer to help us build out infrastructure which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Our team is responsible for network design, deployment, and operations for Meta's global engineering labs where we support multiple engineering teams. With the importance of rapidly maturing new technologies, we have entered in a new era of unprecedented opportunities to re-think traditional networking and iterate quickly in our environment. Network Engineer, R&D Environments Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally to design, plan, deploy, and manage secure network infrastructure in labs
- Deliver and scale core security initiatives, proxy migration, IEEE 802.1X validation, Radius implementation, and vulnerability management for lab assets
- Provide support and consultation to internal teams with focus on designing for network infrastructure to test and validate new products
- Perform network maintenance including hardware and software upgrades, migrations, capacity upgrades, and decommissioning
- Develop automation and tooling as needed to support engineering lab initiatives
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting, issue, and problem resolution. Leveraging packet captures and working with tools like Wireshark to root cause network related issues
- Create MOPs for vendors to execute standard wireline and wireless network operational tasks
- Collaborate across multi-functional groups and have the aptitude to learn and adapt to changing requirements
- Work cross-functionally with partners, project managers, network, software, and hardware engineers to validate equipment, software, and develop network solutions to meet test needs. Expect to travel approximately 10% of the time to cultivate these partnerships.

- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
- 4+ years of work experience responsible for designing, deploying and operating large-scale networks
- Understanding of network security appliances, firewall, VPN, dual factor authentication
- Experience in IPv4 and IPv6 networking, Layer 2/Layer 3 network protocols (spanning-tree, OSPF, BGP), TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN, VRRP, LACP, MC-LAG, EVPN with VXLAN and ACL
- Comprehensive knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS) and experience with IPv6
- Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with Wi-Fi, backhaul, and IP networking hardware
- Proven experience working in a global team environment and solving problems with limited supervision
- Experience in a coding/scripting languages such as Python, shell scripting etc. along with knowledge in code repository solutions
- Experience evaluating and testing new vendor platforms and in-house network initiatives
- Networking certification such as CCNP, JNCIP or Security certification such as CISSP, CCSP, CCIE
- Project life cycle management experience from requirement gathering to customer handoff
- Experience with network traffic generators (eg., IXIA, Spirent, Xena, TM500, UE100), traffic impairment boxes, KPI measurement tools, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers (eg., wireshark)
- Start-up or technical infrastructure experience

$50.48/hour to $156,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
