You can help us make this dream a reality and accomplish your life's best work here!As a Design Prototyper on the Live Telepresence team, you will be working on the cutting edge of Virtual and Augmented Reality experiences. With our team, you will explore, prototype, and build experiences that define the future of how people interact through immersive telepresence with Codec Avatars. You will work closely with engineers, scientists, and research product managers to build an internal XR calling service and solve user and researcher challenges that are unique, complex, and nuanced. You will be responsible for the highest level of polish, creativity, and interaction that allows the team to activate users and collect feedback that informs and empowers researchers and cross-functional partners toward the next generation of Codec Avatars.

Design Prototyper, Live Telepresence with Codec Avatars Responsibilities:
  • Define and synthesize user requirements
  • Help establish design processes to align cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to strategic decisions, working with engineering and research teams
  • Design and create user experience prototypes and individually contribute to the feature set
  • Establish pipelines & best practices for leveraging ML / AI models in prototypes
  • Work with user research to user test and iterate on the prototypes
  • Give and solicit feedback from others to raise the quality and craftsmanship of the calling service
  • Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers and content designers, overseeing the implementation of the user experience
  • Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads
  • Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
  • Help inform product strategy
  • Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • While depth and quality of experience is more important than years, successful candidates typically have 3+ years of design and software development experience
  • Proficiency with C# and Unity
  • Programming skills, experience with application development, and effective troubleshooting skills
  • Proven understanding of design tools like Figma
  • Skills and understanding on graphic design (layout, typography, color, illustration)
  • Perfectionism within the experience (polish, readability, accessibility, performance)
  • Effective communication skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience closely collaborating with product, design, and engineering
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods for user research
  • Experience building prototypes in short timeframes
  • Portfolio featuring examples of interaction and prototyping work
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with C++
  • Proficiency with React
  • Experience working in a research environment
