Job Description
The Associate Director, Health Equity Insights and Capabilities will be responsible for developing and communicating data-driven and actionable insights and capabilities that drive brand, customer and organizational strategy and execution choices. This role will build upon and develop new digital, data and analytics Health Equity capabilities, which enable the business to identify and act upon key opportunity areas to ensure our company's scientific advancements better reach underserved and under-resourced populations. This role will strategically partner with marketing stakeholders to identify and prioritize key business needs as well as colleagues in Human Health Digital, Data and Analytics (HHDDA) to develop, scale and integrate capabilities to address those needs.
The preferred candidate will have an understanding of healthcare ecosystems and drivers of health disparities (e.g., Social Determinants of Health), and the ability to identify and leverage data sources and analytics solutions to inform commercial strategies. They will have demonstrated consistently strong leadership skills, an ability to work both independently and with a team. They will demonstrate a growth mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and inspire a culture of continuous learning. This role will require interfacing and collaborating with many teams so strong communication and team-building skills are a must, as are influencing skills and the ability to motivate without authority.
This role provides the individual a unique opportunity to anticipate and translate business needs into scalable, innovative capabilities which inform relevant solutions to close health disparities and improve patient health outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of understanding the business opportunity, information needs and stakeholders' priorities to help develop research, data and analytical solutions that support and anticipate business objectives
- Clearly define the business question or opportunity; inform choice of appropriate analytical techniques/methodologies and solutions; develop working knowledge of all relevant data and insights sources, strengths, and weaknesses to inform choices to best answer business questions
- Partner with Data Science team to consider alternatives, propose appropriate methods/approaches, apply best practices, and proactively consider and/or develop new techniques and innovations to meet objectives
- Integrate insights into a compelling story to guide the business decision at hand
- As team member and leader, drive development of a high functioning, integrated, and motivated HHDDA core team (Data Strategy, Science, Solutions and Visualization); lead and inspire cross-functional agile working teams to create and socialize capabilities with business impact and strategic relevance
- Act as Health Equity Center of Excellence including upskilling of and consulting with colleagues, sharing best practices and identifying more effective, efficient, and standardized approaches to address business questions and needs
- Enhance the reliability, depth, usability and socialization of our health equity data to evolve our capabilities and impact
- Develop plans and roadmaps to address organizational needs and gaps to augment integration of health equity in marketing decision making
- Travel may be required (< 10%)

Education Minimum Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in related discipline required; relevant disciplines include:, Public Health, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Decision Sciences, Business Analytics, Marketing, Business, Economics, etc.
- Master's degree preferred
Preferred location will be "hybrid" (combination of in-office and remote working). Upper Gwynedd, PA and Rahway, NJ are the in-office locations
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant delivery of complex analytical projects in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry using large patient or physician databases; facility with understanding and appropriately leveraging healthcare data and insights to inform business decisions
- Robust understanding of the commercial value chain in pharmaceuticals, the external healthcare environment, factors impacting health disparities, Social Determinants of Health
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively, challenge the status quo and drive change; ability to translate business needs into marketing capabilities
- Solid project management and organizational skills; ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and organize/prioritize work and competing priorities effectively
- Self-motivated, proactive, ability to work independently; intellectual curiosity and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment/white space
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and influence without authority, collaborate and lead diverse, cross-functional and cross-divisional team members
- Disease/therapeutic area experience aligned with our company's portfolio (e.g. vaccines, oncology, cardiovascular, HIV, etc.) is preferred

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Under New York State, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$149,400.00 - $235,100.00
