General Summary of Position

Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), you will support the Director of Nursing in overseeing the unit’s clinical operations and staff performance. You’ll help lead patient care delivery, provide mentorship, and assist with quality and safety initiatives while ensuring adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.

This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse with experience as a charge nurse or preceptor who is ready to transition into a formal leadership position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting day-to-day unit operations and staffing
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing frontline nursing staff
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to promote high-quality, evidence-based care
  • Supporting staff engagement, patient satisfaction, and unit-based goals
  • Maintaining compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Active Maryland RN license (or compact license)
  • BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred
  • Prior experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, or other informal leader required
  • Strong interpersonal, clinical, and organizational skills

This position has a hiring range of $100,588 - $190340.00
